Tender vs pier

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a list of ports that need tenders vs. docking at a pier? Thanks!

This is sort of hard to do. It depends on the ship, and the port. On the old "Norway", all ports were tender ports, because of the large size. With some of the smaller vessels, you may not have to tender at all. It also depends on how many ships are in port that day. There may be docking space for three, but if four ships are there at the same time, one has to tender.

Here are some tender ports: Grand Cayman, Cozumel (mostly), Belize, private islands.

Docked ports: San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten (usually), Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, Costa Maya, Curacao, Aruba.
