hybrn8 Posted March 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Will be in Dover for 5 hours in early May - repositioning cruise stopping there for some reason or another - and would appreciate recommendations from locals re must-see sights and nice place for early luncheon. Don't really want to get too far afield. Walking on the cliff easy to get to/from? Regards.
Loopy_Lou Posted March 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2007 The best place to visit is Dover Castle. It will take you under 10 minutes to get to in a taxi. See here http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/ConProperty.182 I have done this trip a couple of times and it really is worth seeing, especially the wartime tunnels. lambs2 Posted April 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I agree that Dover Castle is fascinating. We probably spent 5 or 6 hours there. There was so much to see, especially the WWII war tunnel tour! But, I also think it is worth the time to walk along the white cliffs. That is the quintessential element that defines Dover and I am so glad we had to chance to ramble along the cliff paths!
