17 and 18 year olds on Splendour

Recommended Posts

We are cruising for spring break with 20 high school seniors, some of who are 18 and a few are still 17. Are there discos or other things that our 17 year olds will not be able to participate in that the 18 year olds can? I assumed that since the drinking age has been raised to 21---an GREAT THING---that there would not be a difference in what the kids can do. Does anyone know for sure? We have some anxious 17 year olds!!

Yes, the teen area is only for kids up to and including age 17, and the adult disco is only for 18 and older.(after a certain hour, usually 10 P.M.)

How many adults are going with this group?????????

(the 18 year olds are allowed to gamble, too, and the 17 year olds won't even be allowed IN the casino)

thanks...just in case you are on the ship i wanted to let you know this is a family trip---about 65 of us total!!! it is just families with seniors. Do you know how they differentiate the ages of the kids? is it something on their sail and sign card?? or do they have to have an id to get in the disco? thanks

On Royal Caribbean, it's called your Sea Pass. At check-in, the cards of 17 year olds will have two holes punched in them. The 18 year olds will have one hole punched. In addition, the 18 year olds may be asked to produce I.D. (particularly by casino staff) Suggest to your kids that they carry their driver's license.

You will have a great time! A group of us have sailed the Splendour the past three spring breaks with our teens and had no problems with kids and alcohol, noise at night or anything beyond a little sunburn.

Here are some images of the ship:

One note; don't stress about attire for the cruise. I wore khakis or jeans at night and a polo shirt to dinner on all except formal night. Most dressed for formal night but some didn't.

The Cruise Compass will tell you what nights are dress-up and what aren't. Jeans were allowed on all the nights, including formal. Teenagers with jeans and Abercrombie or Hollister shirts were the norm.

My wife dressed in those capri (whatever..) pants and on all nights we changed to nice shorts after dinner. What a great vacation!

We cannot go this year, we have a school trip in April :(

The Viking Crown Lounge is a super place to spend some quiet time with a book in the afternoon...
