Rhine River Cruise

My mother wants the two of us to go on a cruise down the Rhine River. I have researched these cruises and I was surprised to see how different they are from ocean cruises. I would love some advice from anyone who has been on a Rhine river cruise as far as which cruise line is the best, what to take, ect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
