Going on Silver Whisper cruise in Summer- what is better for Veranda- Deck 5 or Deck 6?- cabins are both similar in location.

What are advantages of being on each deck?

Thanks

Your Best Bet Is To Look At The Ships Deck Plans..and See What You Want To Be Close To....typically The Lower You Are On Ship..the More Stable The Voyage.......especially If You Are Midship....but If You Are In Same General Area..the Deciding Factor For Us Would Be What Public Rooms Do You Wish To Have Easisest Access To...you Want To Insure That The Deck Above You Is Not One That Is One Like The Promenade Deck...or Pool Deck..where There Is Much Walking...but That Is Not The Problem On Either Of The Two Decks You Mentioned! Have A Terrific Time!

Dear friends:

Unless you get one of the Vista suites with the shared common verandah, I would choose a Verandah suite on a different deck.

Personally, I don't care for deck 5. Even though the ships hold their acoustics well and Silversea ships in general are quiet ships, I don't like being on the same deck as the reception desk, casino and stores. I would rather be in a more private, more residential section.

While I admit some people don't like to be high up for stability reasons, my favorite deck for a verandah suite happens to be deck 9. Very intimate and private. Walk right out the door and down the steps to the pool. Walk up one flight of stairs to the gym and spa, with easy access to the rest of the ship.

This is a very personal decision, so I think you should look carefully at the deck plans and talk to others who have stayed on different decks.

Kind regards,

Gunther and Uta

We've been on deck 6 every time on SW and been happy. I don't think you'd notice a big difference in traffic between decks 5 and 6 (the further forward you go, the less traffic) or in motion of the ship (the difference between far-forward cabins and nearer-midships cabins will be far greater than the difference between decks 5 and 6 with similar fore-and-aft positions).

For convenience, deck 6 is two decks down from the pool and two decks up from the restaurant, so you will rarely need to go up or down more than two decks at a time and may be a stranger to the elevators. But you'll need the exercise to work off the cuisine, so maybe deck 5 is the better choice!

Short version: this decision is unlikely to affect your enjoyment.

We have very much liked our Deck 6 location -- same cabin assignment, both SS cruises (not quite mid-ship). A plus, for me, was the handiness of the laundry, just several cabins away. But steer clear of being next door to it -- the equipment can be really noisy! I personally would NOT want to be on Deck 5 near the traffic of reception/casino/gift shop/etc.
