Javatlkrs Posted March 17, 2007 #176 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Any kind of shirt or dress that is fashioned so that the seams are on the outside. It looks like you have your clothes on inside out. I know someone who wore a one piece jumpsuite culotte type outfits (an 80's thing) to work all day, and didn't know that she had it on inside out. We laughed so hard when she realized it, we nearly wet our pants!!:D (She was a carpool buddy who didn't work at the same place, or I would have told her if I'd noticed in the morning. I guess we didn't have enough coffee that day.) One persons fashion oops, is another persons fashion inspiration.
NMCruzzin Posted March 17, 2007 #177 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Just curious.....are you a man or a woman? I like socks too but only wear them with pants and loafers. Too cold in the winter to go barefoot! I am a lady!:)

They make you look ridiculous!   Yes, but which look is worse for a man 45+ Consrvative: Big time combover a'la Donald Trump? FLCruiseGirl Posted March 18, 2007 #180 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I personally, don't really care what anyone wears as long as things are not tooooooo tight or showing any details of anatomy. That said, my worst pet peeve (as I learned on our last cruise) is people who are not dressed up in the dining room making fun of those of us who are. On our last cruise, there was a group of late 20 something cowboy-types at a large table as you entered the dining room. Each night, they were in shorts or jeans and often giggled, pointed and made a big fuss when myself, my DH and my family walked by to our table. I was born on a farm, and am usually O.K. if you don't want to put on an evening dress or even some khaki's and a jacket, but my last straw was the making fun of others. It was very upsetting that this was allowed to continue. So for those that don't want to dress up - Don't - DO NOT - make fun of others because you feel so completely, and absurdly underdressed. As far as I'm concerned the ships shouldn't have let them in the darn dining room anyway. It was awful to do, especially to the new cruisers that I had brought with me that were new to the whole "dressing for dinner" thing. That's my 2 cents. Oh...and robes in the buffet line...not horrible, but really not my favorite either. Karla It is awful when people make fun of others. Kind of like what a lot of you are doing on this thread. Javatlkrs Posted March 18, 2007 #181 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Lighten up......we all have things that we've worn that we look at later and say.....what was I thinking!! So what! I do agree that it is extremely impolite, rude, ill mannered, distasteful, and improper to laugh a someone who dosen't follow your fashion tastes. People like that are usually very insecure and have to level others down to them. I'm sorry that family had to have that experience. That table probably had to much to drink. TMarie Posted March 18, 2007 #183 Share Posted March 18, 2007  On our last RCCL cruise we played 'fashion' police during the Captains welcome gala. Hands down, Why would you wear those silly eskimo looking boots with a dress or gown? Unless of course you were Pocohontas. Apparently there were a lot of wanabes that evening. Next would be velour warm up suits. Okay is there an unwritten law that says you have to live in these once you turn 60? And theres nothing nastier than walking by someone wearing those low cut jeans with their thongs hanging out or even worse their butt crack showing...EEEWWWWWW! Dave:eek: BTW: Cruisemom42 "4. People wearing clothing that is waaaayyy too small (This includes bathing suits, especially Speedos!).." Whos to say the speedo is way too small? maybe I'm just slightly volumtuous!!!! Besides if it doesn't cut off my circulation and turn my legs purple...ITS NOT TOO SMALL!!:D If God wanted you to wear PANTIES, he would have given you a vagina! Speedos kill me...it looks like the man is trying to smuggle mashed potatos out of the windjammer.... But i will admit that i am occasionally guilty of the low rise pant dilemma with the thong...its soooo annoying! Why cant companies make a decent rise pant? its either "mom jeans" or super low cut jeans...and i will NEVER wear "mom jeans"
Jane110 Posted March 18, 2007 #184 Share Posted March 18, 2007 It is awful when people make fun of others. Kind of like what a lot of you are doing on this thread. Have to disagree strongly with you on this point. On this thread we're all having a chat about our pet peeves on an annonymous internet board. Were not pointing at anyone person. I'm certain that none of the people here would stare and laugh at others who happened to be wearing one of their pet peeves. The situation that Khill had when a group of cowboy slobs actually laughed and pointed at people who were dressed in formal attire is disgusting. The dining room manager should have escorted these slobs out. Their behavior and their clothing was boorish and they must have been drunk. They had no business being in the dining room. Jane110 Posted March 18, 2007 #185 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Yes, but which look is worse for a man 45+ Consrvative: Big time combover a'la Donald Trump? Liberal: Bald forehead with a ponytail a'la Mick Fleetwood? BOTH looks are bad. However, if I suddenly had to choose a man with one or the other, I'd go with the bald forehead and ponytail. At least he's not trying to hide the fact that he's bald! The combover guy gets freaked on a windy day and depending on which side he sleeps on, he could wake up looking like a rake is growing out of his head! LOL! kalamari Posted March 18, 2007 #186 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I've seen Afro's with a "pick" sticking out of them...I never knew if that had something to do with keeping it in place or if it was some sort of fashion statement. It kinda looked to me like a fork sticking out of the guy's head. BOTH looks are bad. However, if I suddenly had to choose a man with one or the other, I'd go with the bald forehead and ponytail. Smitty24 Posted March 18, 2007 #192 Share Posted March 18, 2007 1) This thread is hysterical! I find it boorish that others don't find it so, yet feel a need to come on here and lecture. If I want a sermon, I'll go to church. 2) That being said, I'm guilty of some people's peeves. Ok..actually on 1 that I can see. Usually I agree with Caviargirl's comments, but I'm guilty of the stocking with dress sandals. Kinda. I sometimes wear super sheer nylons with formals. Makes me feel 'finished'. Especially since my legs are horribly white and look worse when wearing a black dress/gown! Do I think she would point, laugh and snicker? No. It's just not her thing. Does it upset me it's her peeve? No way! To each his/her own. 3) Now I have to add another pet peeve...mesh tank tops/tshirts on men. Ick. Not so bad on smooth, buff guys, not so good on hairy, not so buff guys!
momofmeg Posted March 18, 2007 #193 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Just curious....what age would you consider "older women" to be older women? :) Older women who may have a fairly nice figure or are petite, but wear "jr. size" clothes..they may fit, but the cut of the clothes looks ridiculous on them. It can vary-some women look older at 35-and others can not look older until their early 50's-now that is in the face-but then the thick middle section which makes junior size clothes not fit correctly-depends alot on if a woman has had a couple of pregnancies. even a size zero petite woman who has had a couple of babies may not look right in a junior size 3 dress with a fitted waist-as the wiast will bunch as it is too little in the waist-but yet too big in other areas. LOL! reminds of that commerical where the husband thinks the overhead fan in the bathroom is not working in his new house- and he keeps flipping it on and off-the deal was the fan makes no noise-but the wife saw it worked because her husband's combover was blown upwards evry time he flipped the switch on! I like what the young guys do-if they are going bald they just shave their whole head like Michael Jordon. My family practice Dr. has a very bad topee-I wish he would just throw that thing away and do like the young guys!

wakelover Posted March 18, 2007 #196 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Personally I think that this can be a terribly personal thing for a man, especially if they lost their hair when quite young. I happen to know several gentlemen who comb their hair over and to be honest, have never really noticed until I read this. Perhaps I was too interested in what they had to say, or perhaps what they are like on the inside... or more likely the fact that they are dear and close friends and I respect them greatly...... I certainly do not find their hairstyle amusing or something to laugh at....I wouldnt be so utterly cruel!

oceanal Posted March 18, 2007 #198 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I feel the flames on this thread again. Ladies, it is not a tragedy when a young man loses his hair unless it's from chemo. Life is a genetic crapshoot and as my DH, DB and DD would tell you they lost and moved on. DD has a horrible combover that he loves an noone can talk him out of. When the wind whips up it looks as if he may take wind and fly off. He is happy and I would NEVER make fun of him. But his hair is not so good. DB went bald at 24, wore a horrible piece for a few years that was sewn in to the roots of his own hair. He got so hot in it one day after working out he had me help him shave it all off ala Britney Spears on a bad hair day. He is now quite bald and looking good. DH is working hard to accept the inevitable and has so far taken the "loss" with grace and style. Once again...the thread is for fun we are not running around pointing at men with combovers, wearing speedos in black socks laughing. Chill.;) A

Guest kookylabooka Posted March 18, 2007 #200 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I just wanted to post a rely to the fashion police out there. I think one of the most wonderful thing about our world is that we are all different. Not every tree and flower matches but they all have a purpose. I love people who are individual and do as they please and don't worry about what people think. People come from different area of the country or the world and that is a good thing. What they maybe use to is not necessarily what we are use to. I kinda have to laugh because some of these incident described on this board are things I see some fashion models wear. I never try to be judgemental because I never know who is judging what I am wearing. Life is too short to be judgemental. If you want to make fun of other people and what they do or wear beware and expect the same. I know this is in fun (or I sure hope so). I dress to please myself and my husband. No one else matters. I have never met anyone who dresses to fit a perfect body. Just remember fashion is designed because someone took a chance and was different. I hope I have not angered anyone because I just wanted to put in a different view point. Now to say what I don't understand is why someone would wear dirty clothes several days in a row. I think just like you !!! There needs to be a lot more people like us in this world to make it a better place for all. Also, fashion is nothing more than others telling you what to wear.
