aimeeRN Posted August 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2004 Hi, I am going to be a first time cruiser. I have been reading your posts and have collected some great tips. Thanks. My question is regarding rooms on certain decks. Where on the ECSTACY would one find the laundry and luggage area? I am concerned that we would get a room near one of these areas and I have heard horror stories about the noise. Also, what other areas on the ship do we need to be aware of as far as having a room close to them? Thanks for the feedback in advance. aimeeRN
RWolver672 Posted August 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2004 I'm not sure what you mean by the luggage area but we've never been on the Ecstasy either. On the three ships that we've been on, there is no luggage area that we're aware of. They bring you your luggage and set it outside your door. Then you keep it in your cabin. The areas to avoid are usually above and below you, not next to you. Avoid the cabins above or below the discos, galley, casino, engines, anchors, etc if noise bothers you. Some people say to avoid the cabins near the elevators. We have always chosen a cabin by them and never hear any noises.
serene56 Posted August 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2004 Like Dick- we always take a preffered cabin. I dont want to take a chance and book a gauarantee and gt stuck someplace that I will not be happy with. I DID book a gaurantee for my cruise to nowhere and by doing certain methods found that I was stuck right where I didnt want to be.
Beffy1167 Posted August 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2004 Years ago, on the Tropicale, we had the room directly across the hall from the public laundry room....and actually LOVED it. It sure was convenient when we needed to iron and there was not a lot of people coming and going from there. The only exception was formal night; just before dinner, there were a LOT of people lined up for the iron. And really, how many people want to spend $4 a load  to wash and dry clothes while on VACATION? Most are (I suspect) more willing to carry the dirty stuff home and wash it much less expensively--and more safely given the fact that public dryers are usually much hotter than is good for the clothes. Since then, have always had to trek a long way to iron...and can't speak for the other ships because we've never been that close again.:(

mohavemommy Posted August 1, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2004 I heard absolutely no sound from the laundry rooms. I have heard that there is more noise on the lower decks when arriving in ports and such. Things like banging from the anchor and gangway doors.
