texasnana Posted March 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2007 A friend told me that her daughters grandmother book a cruise for all the grandchildren and families . There are 13 going and 5 rooms. She used a travel agent and the grandma got her cruise free. My friend is emailing me the travel agency and name. Is this typical???
yearnin4cruisin Posted March 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2007 I think there is such a thing in a large group that the "booker" gets passage for free, but I thought it was for over 20 people. Maybe it's the number of staterooms. Sounds legit to me either way.
GoinCruisin Posted March 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2007 You get a free BERTH for 8 cabins booked double occupancy... you still have to pay taxes and government fees... it's not free.

Again, it's not free. You get a free BERTH.. depending on the cruise, it's still a couple hundred dollars... most times you get this in the form of a rebate a couple months after the cruise. The free berth is based on the category of the most cabins booked (if most are Insides, you get a credit for the inside fare), and the cabins must be double occupancy... so 8 cabins, 16 people, free berth... everyone must be booked with the group, through the same agency/or group dept at Carnival. kujobie Posted March 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Grandma could be subletting. Buying rooms and selling at a profit and using the proceeds to pay for her room. She's playing travel agent. Or maybe the travel agent's playing grandma. :)
