Salsa on the Dawn

Salsa is listed as both a bar and a restaurant. I know you need reservations for eating at the restaurant, but are you able to just go hang out and drink (and possibly eat?) in the bar area (without reservations)?

Sure - it is a smoke free bar, not real large, and they serve tapis.

On our cruise (2006), Salsa's bar didn't open until 5 or 5:30 PM. This may have changed. Of course the whole area is "open" that is, you can go and sit and listen to the music from the atrium. Salsa is a great place to meet up with friends for a before dinner drink (and of course, lots of tapas). As for the tapas- the offerings do change each day. (Which gives you an excuse to go back each day.)

When people ask about the difference between the Dawn and the Spirit- I always remember how I missed not having a "Salsa-type" bar area on the Spirit. And the Sun has a wonderful Tapas bar (Las Ramblas?) on the top deck, aft. More reasons to cruise often and try different ships!
