dr6462 Posted March 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2007 My wife and I veterans of many cruises on NCL, Carnival, Celebrity and RCCL are considering an 11 day cruise in Hawaii on the Pride of Aloha. Reading the boards gives me pause. It seems there are two extremes ones who love the cruise and ones who hate it. I've heard stories of 2.5 hour dinners but I've experienced these on more than one cruise line. Missed shows, also experienced when eating at the late sitting. No mint on the pillow? I can tell you what a mess they make when you sleep on one all night! At least I amused my wife when I woke up with chocolate smears all over my face. I would like a fair, commom sense report of how the Pride of Aloha is currently. Good or bad! Maybe we have good cruises because we look for the good in people and understand everyone has a bad day now and then. Try this to set the tone for your cruise. We always make up a goodie bag of snacks, candy and treats for our cabin steward. Some call it a bribe, we call it being considerate of the hard work they do. Don Haynes Posted March 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2007 I would go just to see the islands. We'll see if the American crews can dream up some activities aboard on the sea days without a casino and bingo with the longer itinerary. There is nothing wrong with the ships, as they are fairly new including the Pride of Aloha. There haven't been too many complaints aboout the quality of the food, most of the complaints deal with long services between courses, and thus the long time dining. From what I have read about the positive reviews a small tip or bribe here and there helps. If you go with the understanding that the American crews won't bow to you like a king or queen, but as equal partners, you should be able to have a wonderful vacation. After all, like you said, its the passengers that make or break a cruise. You.
