Azamara Quest in October

We booked a sky suite on the 19OCT07 Celebrity Quest cruise out of Mami. I know that the ship will be refurbished before its maiden voyage as a Celebrity Ship. However, has anyone had problems with a newly renovated ship from another line? We are a little concerned that the ship will still be a "work in progress" on it's first sail.

well jax - I don't think you have anything to worry about with this ship.

These ships have been some of the most souht after small ships since their inception. Renaissance cruise lines had a solid following of people primarialy because of the ships (R1 thru R8).

The celebrity Quest is what was R7. Celebrity is not "rebuilding" the ship per se - they're adding some Celebrity specifics to give it a celebrity flavor.

We're booked on the Quest in Nov and apparently, from the climbing prices and the selling of the cabins, it must be popular!!

Have a great cruise -

Alan

It will most definitely be a 'work in progress' but that's part of sailing on an inaugural cruise. Most of the big bugs will have been worked out thru Journey as the ships are identical. I'm not worried. If they have to delay us a day like Journey and give us a free cruise, I'm willing to 'suffer' thru it. :D:D

I was reading about the Journey delay and compensations...I'm hoping that if the same happens to the Quest we will reap the same. I'm pretty excited about the new cruise line Azamara. As long as our Captain's Club credits continue to accrue, I'll be happy. Sounds like the Quest, like the Journey, will be very nice with the brand new Sky Suites. Now, I'm curious about the shore excursions. I hope they will be interesting.

I am excited about the new Azamara cruise line as well. It reminds me of Ren and we loved that CL!!! I'm glad there is another luxury small ship criuseline established with limited smoking. Happy Sailing!

I am also booked on the Oct. 19th cruise and I am very excited wth the new ship and the Smoking restrictions especially in the casino. We were on the Constellation last October and when we would go through the casino, our eyes watered everytime.

You have to expect some glitches with all maiden voyages and I feel Celebrity stepped up to the plate and are being very accomodating to their guests. I bet they will pull out all the stops to make this cruise very enjoyable.

We are flying to Miami on the 18th so we could hopefully get on board early on the 19th. I wouldn't mind if I have to spend another day in Miami with a free cruise to look forward to.

Can't wait to hear all the comments when the first Journey guests debark.

Hi Janie - I am also happy about the smoking policy. I can't believe what a big deal folks are making about it. We are flying into FLL on the 18th and staying there overnight since the hotels are cheaper. Happy Sailing!

My DH & I are very happy about the no-smoking policy. We both suffer from allergies and cigarette smoke doesn't help at all. I just hope they really enforce the policy. We're driving down from Jacksonville the night before departure. We like to relax before we board! It helps me get into "vacation mode" quicker.

Hi - we're on the October 19th sailing as well and are (probably not a big surprise since it still feels like winter up North) really looking forward to it.

I'm not too concerned about it being Quest's first voyage - Celebrity can be a bit structured/formal on some of their bigger ships but I think that their attention to detail should really work well on a smaller vessel.

Too bad about the lack of library (will really miss the opportunity to read some of the trash I'm too embarassed to buy at home) but the smoking policy (at least for us) and ability to visit some places larger ships can't go (who knew a mainline cruise ship would go to Virgin Gorda?) are mighty appealing.

In the casino hooray! I read the post (sorta) with the smoking areas deliniated, but did not translate that into no smoking in the casino. Delighted, to say the least. And yes, hopefully there will be a library, where did the "no library" come from? As a dedicated reader, cannot imagine not having a book at my side. It looks as if there are more CC members getting onto the Azamara boards, maybe we'll get enough for the 10/19/07 sailing to have a party! Are you out there???

Gogogramma, I think since the 10/19/07 will be Quest's maiden voyage, it will be sold out. I noticed the prices went up $200 since we booked in February.

I can't wait to read the boards for the first Journey cruise. I know they had a rough start but Azamara more than compensated for the lost day. Hopefully we will get more details this weekend.

I did read that they revamped the menu, shrimp sauteed with Cognac, filet with truffle sauce. I am wondering if the sushi cafe and the infamous waffles will make it on board.
