Should I take a life jacket?

I've never snorkeled before and have bought equipment for next week's cruise-my first. Do I need to take a life vest? I already have one from the SeaDoo.

If you're not a good swimmer and/or need the reassurance of extra flotation, you're better off using a snorkel vest rather than a life vest. Life vests are too bulky.

a snorkel vest is not the same thing as a life vest you would wear while riding a Personal water craft.

I strongly recommend a snorkel vest so you can spend your energy viewing instead of staying afloat. I purchased mine at 123snorkel.com and delivery was quick.

A lot of snorkeling boats carry floatation devices for you to use, so don't feel you need to purchase one. Not only do they usually have snorkeling vests, but they often have foam boards with viewing holes and swim noodles.
