We met Deyan as our asst waiter in '06 on the Conquest. We were so surprised to meet him again on the Liberty, last month. He stopped by our table one night to say hello, and we met him a few times on Lido at lunch. If anyone is going on the Liberty soon, please find him and say "sneaky, sneaky says hi!" He's a great kid and is very enjoyable to speak with.

He is a great guy. He told us he is going home in 2 weeks and not sure if he will return to Carnival or not. He is a great dancer and participates in the diningroom entertainment. His famous quote was along the lines of "I'm sexy too" so we played that up quite a bit for him.

Lib0007,

I have the Capers for Monday in San Juan. They have an activities extravaganza at 9:30 pm in the Venetian Palace. It says it contests, trivia and more. Then at 10:30 pm was the comedian Happy Cole which dh and I missed but the other 2 couples we were with said that he was very funny. They talked about him the whole cruise. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be much going on while the ship is docked in San Juan. The other poster is correct that the ship's casino and shops are closed while in port.

Hi fourcruisin, Whimpy from campdanns group here. Just want to say hi and enjoyed your review. Daan has post a review also. I'm in agreement with what you've said. Sean was really a surpise as we thought we were just going to and from the Pineapple Resort. The tour he gave was an add bonus for us. I compare him in a way to Godfrey in St. Thomas. He might not be Godfrey, but he's close. Will be sending him some pictures soon. Anyway we enjoyed the cruise and meeting everyone. We plan on sailing next year on the Miracle.

Hi Whimpy,

I've been reading Daan's review and agree with almost all of it. I really thought the food could use some improvement but overall it was the best cruise we've been on. Daan mentioned the Miracle next year (we were on the same flight home) and our bunch is interested so maybe we will see you then.

Sean is a great guy and I have posted about him on the Antigua board. I'm sure he will do very well.

Hope Maureen is doing better.

Talk to you later

Nancy

I was also on this cruise and enjoyed meeting everyone at the meet and greet. This was my first cruise alone and it was great. I did have a room issue, with extremely bad noise in the walls, that couldn't be fixed, so I was move the night we returned from Antiqua, because someone left the ship. I was in room 2352 and room 2348 experienced it also and were moved the day before me. They tell me it is mechanical and can't be fixed until the ship goes into dry dock, so I feel bad for those people in those rooms this week. Aside from that, the ship is beautiful, the staff was the best, loved Todd, the Cruise Director, great entertainment and I never had a bad meal. I never ate at the buffet-on my vacation, I prefer not to stand in long lines(except embarkation), so I ate all meals in the dining rooms, except on port days and I ate in port or at the deli. I ate beef every night-rare to med-rare and it was superb. I tried all of the soups, which were wonderful and different desserts, all excellant. I had pizza once and found it to be the best, yet. I stayed at the Sleep-Inn in Dania pre and post cruise, which was so nice. It took a while to get the shuttle to the hotel, after the cruise, but the port was packed, so to be expected. I was able to get early check-in, for $10 additional-well worth it and was on Hollywood beach before noon. The breakfast buffet is the best I've experienced(included) and there are restaurants across the street, some of which have free delivery, so most convenient and safe.

I have filed a follow-up report with Carnival re; the room issue, which I hate to do, after an otherwise perfect trip, but I lost 2 nights sleep and had to pack up and move, to a lower cat. room, much smaller. If I had been traveling with my son, I couldn't have taken it because the beds didn't come apart, but I'm sure when they look into it, they will find other complaints and it's a new ship- I shouldn't expect something so major to be an issue.

The ports were wonderful. I walked in San Juan and did some shopping, did a tour with EEE Tours in St. Thomas, that was great. I booked "See Antiqua By Sea", which I loved, but rough seas when you hit the ocean, so be aware, and in Tortola, just walked off and picked up an open safari tour for $20, which was great, also. Shopped mostly in St. Thomas and Tortola-lots of great things! Can't wait to go, again!

Hey Fourcruisin,

Great job on your review. It was a fabulous cruise and yes, I am still traumatized by all the sand I brought back from The Baths in Virgin Gorda!

A special hello to Campdaan, Whimpy, Sharon & Paula and all the other people we became friends with on this cruise. It really is a small world. It was fun to run into all of you at different places on the ship and we seemed to meet up alot!

Fourcruisin (my cuz) did alot of the activity planning and scheduling for our group and you can count on her posts being right on because she does her homework re: Sean and our trip to Pineapple Beach Resort in Antigua!

thanks cousin! Now it is back to reality! We'll have to do this again!

  • 2 weeks later...

Booked on August 12 for the 6 day Western Caribbean and we were given the following ports at time of booking: Key West, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. (It must be a change since it was listed as Bahamas, Grand Cayman and Costa Maya in the Carnival book). I am curious to know how often these ports are changed due to crowding, weather etc. I booked for the ship and any itenerary will suffice - I'm easy to please but I am curious to know if this iteneray will change. I just want sun and sand, so I am sure I'll be happy wherever.
