10 cabins needed for family cruise--any perks?

Has anyone booked a group cruise directly through Princess? What options do we get as far as perks for multiple bookings? I hear they use a point system. Will any of the passengers be free?

We are looking at the Caribbean Princess in 2005.

Thanks, Lisa

Typically you get a free berth for every 8 cabins, so with ten cabins booked you would get one cabin half price or one free sailor, in all candor you should best do this through a TA, the savings on that many people will be well into the thousands buy working with a discouter and they are also the highest volume and best equipped so in reality when you add the free passage to the discounts to the likely group space credits.. yeah you could say freebies.. like a bunch.

We can't recommend a specific one but keep digging, you will know when you get one the price is usually about 10-15% lower including all charges.

TA's can always beat a Princess rate for basic mathematical reasons, in every cruise is a percentage that might or might not go to commission for a TA, for the purpose of this example we will say it is 15%.

When you book with Princess, that % NEVER gets reduced, it is against the agreements they have with the TA's not to undersell them.

If you deal with a discounter style TA, they can cut their % by say 10% so your $549 fare could be $494. Mutiply that by 20 people in 10 cabins, add include the $25 or $50 each you get for booking a group if you can.. we are talking real money.

No rate Princess has.. is unavailble to a TA for further magic... know that and you willl understand basic booking math.
