whalingcity Posted March 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2007 We will be getting off the ship on October 12th in Barcellona after our cruise. We plan to fly to Nice and stay in Nice for 2 days. Husband wants to gamble in Monte Carlo in the evening. The ship does stop in Villafranc (Nice) but leaves @ 7:00pm. He felt he wouldn't be able to spend anytime in the Casino, since the tables open at 4:00pm. Not a heavy gamble, but this would be one of the highlights of his trip. What can I say he has a James Bond fetish. Looking for info on the train or other transportation between Nice and Monte Carlo. Thank you for any info anyone can provide. The train is a easy 20 minute journey to Monte Carlo from the Nice Ville train station. The station in Monte Carlo is close to the Casino. The trains run about 3 per hour during the day and about once an hour in the evening. The last train from Monte Carlo back to Nice is at 11:58 so that may or may not give James Bond enough time. Have fun the Casino is beautiful.

Thank you so much, is there a destination for the train, or is it to Monte Carlo. Do you know if we can pick it up in Nice since I didn't know if the Nice Ville train station was different. Have you been to Monte Carlo lately? If so is there a fee to enter the Casino, and I heard that you need your passport to enter is this true. What was the dress in the evening? Did it go from nice casual to tuxedos. thanks again
bigwally Posted March 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2007 €10 to enter anything beyond the lobby. Guests must be 18 years or older, have a photo ID, and proper attire. I've read that this is jacket and ties for gents, no tennis shoes or shorts.

Yes, you must have your passport and there is a 10 Euro charge to get in. You don't need to wear a tux but they do have a dress code in the evening for the tables, jacket and tie. Have a great time. We have been to Vegas, Atlantic City, and even Foxwood's in Ct, but this will be something he has always thought of. Hopefully he would have stashed away money for his visit. thanks again

bigwally Posted March 14, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2007 BigWally - How did you type the Euro symbol? Hold the Alt key down and then use the number pad to type 0128. Do the same with the combination 0163 and you'll get the ever useful £ symbol. :)
