cruisegal31 Posted March 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2007 The average price for the drink of the day is around $8. So say you have 5 per day times 7 days ...that is $280 not even including excursions, gratuities etc...

kohlerdm Posted March 13, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2007 We just got back and did a cash account. We started with $500 got a $50 onboard credit so we had $550. We used this to book wour shore excursions $238, standard gratuities $140, bought a few drinks and got $125 back on the last day. So for us $425. Zeno Posted March 13, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2007 It really depends a lot on how much you drink, shop and go on ship excursions. We are not big drinkers or shoppers (one or two drinks a day and some small souvenir) and we usually try to arrange our own port days. Our on-board expenses have always been less than $500. star7228 Posted March 13, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2007 For us it's been around $1000, but on a 10-day, we hit around $1300. We spend a lot on shore excursions, though...drinks I'm not sure. I drink wine with dinner and my husband usually likes mixed drinks...just depends. :) But....it would be better for you to over budget and then end up surprised at the end of your trip than to under budget and leave your cruise with a hurt wallet. :D
Ncolea Posted March 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Just returned from 10 day cruise on Dawn. Our final bill was $588 for two people. We did have a $40 obc and we received San Juan port charges back totalling about $66.00, since we had to miss that port due to weather. We did not do any fee speciality restaurants or spa and did no onboard shopping yet did one shore excursion at $79 a person. We are drinkers as well. We thought our bill was going to be much higher! One tip. Keep your receipts from throughout the cruise. We found a discrepancy of about $46 that way.

cruizinwithkids Posted March 14, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks everybody for your input, sounds like it will be a lot less than I was expecting. We paid $1,400 last cruise. Tips ($140), Internet ($55), future cruise ($150), Cagney's ($40 (I think)) The rest was alcohol.
newmexicoNita Posted March 14, 2007 #15 Share Posted March 14, 2007 WE always buy a bottle of booze for our cabin ahead of time, mayber two so that is not part of our on board charges. Normally we will have about $100 per day in extra charges. Most being wine for dinner, tips, a drink or two and a little extra at the casino. We don't do ship tours as a rule, nor do we buy pictures anymore and spend very little in the gift shop. NMnita

We spend (I'm sure) quite a bit on the mixed drinks, and we tend to order similar drinks, so I was thinking about ordering a bottle for the room and maybe bringing a mixer onboard, as I've seen people mention they do that (without the alcohol, of course...otherwise it'd be confiscated). Maybe I'll see some savings at the end of June cruise! :) Who knows...
tuffy88 Posted April 13, 2007 #17 Share Posted April 13, 2007 If you want to economize order a bar set up. $40 to $60 for a 1 liter bottle. And watch for the 2 for 1 specials. Sometimes on the pool deck and sometimes in the casino. If you drink beer load your mini-refriderator up to drink later. Can cut your bar bill more than in half. star7228 Posted April 13, 2007 #18 Share Posted April 13, 2007 And watch for the 2 for 1 specials. I think that's probably some of the best advice. We usually haven't looked for those specials, but I think I will this year. :)

We figure shore excursions and tipping first then add about 800- for the bar tab Plus.. the 50 something dollars each for soda cards. We always come close to the $1,400-
