georgette923 Posted March 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2007 I hope someone can answer my question. Is it true there is no limit to the number of cream rums you can bring back to the states without declaring them? I've read one liter regular alcohol per person but nothing about the cream rums. We're going to Appleton Estates in Montego Bay and we've heard they also have great cream rums. Makes great gifts, especially when driving, no problem with flying home. TOTTT Posted March 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Georgette, there is no limit to the number of bottles of rum cream you can take back..the alcohol limit is too low to fit the criteria. However, duty does have to be paid on anything you take back that exceeds the $800 total limit on items purchased abroad. (That would be one heck of a lot of rum cream, so I think you'll be perfectly safe! ;)) Just a clarification for you though...the Appleton Rum Estate is NOT in Montego Bay...it's about a two hour ride from there. Thank you for the information. $800 hmmm that's a lot of rum, so you're right, we'll be just fine. :D We are taking an excursion through Carnival to Appleton Estate and they did say it was about a 1 1/2 hour or so trip. Which we are looking forward to seeing more of the country than we had in the past. Plus we will be having lunch there also. Sounds like a nice trip. Thank you again.
