Mescubamom Posted March 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Hi, We are traveling on the Crown Princess this Fall and are on the Dolphin. We were on the Grand last spring and the only thing I was not thrilled with was the deck being to open. We dive so we needed a balcony with a tub. After reading about the caribe decks sounds like this is where we should be. Are there any rooms with tub & shower as balconies or just the mini suites?? Thanks Alice
cherylandtk Posted March 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Alice, only the mini-suites and up have the tub. If you can find a mini suite on the Emerald deck, aft, those are covered. Otherwise, its the Dolphin (open) deck or a full suite.
barbface1 Posted March 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2007 also on dolphin deck in may 2007....are the balcony doors sliding?
Born4Water Posted March 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2007 There are 2 decks on the Crown that are partially covered - Caribe & Dolphin. The other decks are either fully open or completely covered.
KAWS Posted March 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2007 I understand that the full aft cabins on the Dolphin deck are also totally covered. We've got D734 booked on the Crown and this is what we were told. Kim
bandit0000 Posted April 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Hi, Looking at the deck plans the dolphin balconies look bigger than the caribe. Is this true? I thought I had heard that the caribe balconies were the biggest. Many thanks, Lisa
cherylandtk Posted April 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Lisa, Dolphin deck balcony space is slightly smaller than the Caribe. It may look bigger in pictures because it is fully visible, while the Caribe deck space is partly hidden from view. Kim, Fully aft balconies are frequently left out of the covered/uncovered lists because there are so few. But yes, the true aft balconies are covered, except on some ships where the top row (usually Aloha) may be partly uncovered to one side or the other, depending on ship. Born4water's post is somewhat misleading in that regard as the side Dolphin deck balconies are all fully uncovered. There are no partly covered side dolphin deck balconies. These are the minisuites the OP was asking about. The Dolphin aft rooms are covered, but these are BB cabins or a suite, no minis. I find it much easier to keep track of this way: Dolphin (side) are all open. Caribe (side) are all half open. Everything else is covered.
KAWS Posted April 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks for the info Cheryl. That explains things perfectly! Kim
bandit0000 Posted April 3, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks for that, most helpful, I snagged c753 aft balcony on the new P&O Ventura which is apparently same layout as the Crown. Thanks, Lisa:)
