US Air nightmare

Any one stuck at Ft. L. on Sunday trying to get out on US Air? We were and what a nightmare. Our plane left without us on it and and half empty afteeer waiting for two hours in line. So many people were put on standby. Fortunatley for the six of us US Air put us up at the Embassy Suites for the night and paid for every thing. Not sure if booking our trip thru RC had anything to do with it. We made it out on Monday.

Try to explain to your boss that you didn't get out of Florida after a cruise and weather had nothing to do with it.

US Air merged with another airlines during the week and they had computer issues with the keoski(sp) so people could not check without standing in line.

Please keep up to date with airline news before you post.

The airline MERGER was over a year ago. The new COMPUTER system was put online Sunday morning at 2:00AM. And yes, there were quite a few glitches.

However, you will often wait in line for two hours at the FLL airport on "cruise days". Not only was last Saturday a "cruise day", but it was the start of Spring Break for a whole lot of college kids. The US Air computer glitch didn't help anything, but FLL is often a zoo. One big reason the cruise lines advise NOT booking a flight before noon. Sorry for your experience.

My husband and group left Hartford for Myrtle Beach on sunday on US Air. Never again will he fly them!!!The plane left an hour late. The pilot also had his watch at the wrong time.........wonder if he over slept!!!! Their connection left without them in Philly. There were at least 6 other people who needed to make that connection. They were no help to him at all. They said that they could get them to their destination the next day. They couldn't even see other airports to see if they could route them somewhere else. They ended up finally getting where they needed too after paying 200.00 more for a rental car and driving for 5 hours!! He is so mad. I can't wait to see what will happen today with the snow and all!!!

We flew out of Fort Lauderdale recently on a Saturday coming home from a cruise. I definitely agree that this airport was a zoo! It was unbelievably crowded with long lines everywhere! You can't check in for your flight more than 3 hours before flight time and there was no where to even sit to wait. We tried renting a car to get out of there, but none were available without a reservation. We didn't fly out until later in the afternoon and things had calmed down by then for some airlines, but not all. I've never seen any airport that over crowded.

greatam we did not fly out on a Saturday but a Sunday and our flight was at 1.

Saturday, Sunday-doesn't matter. Any day of the week could be a "cruise day" with MUCH longer than usual wait times at FLL.

To top it off, you were there on one of the first days of spring break. So add in an extra 4000 or so cruise pax plus a whole lot of spring breakers and a glitch with US Air computers and you have a zoo at FLL.

You truly need at least 2 hours to stand in line at FLL. Even on a Wednesday, off the QE2, the lines were out the door. No place to sit, nothing to do. Yes, FLL is better than MIA, but only slightly.
