First time Platinum Guest review Gloy 3/10/07

I am not going to write a review of the Glory. It has been done time and time again. What I would like to pass on is our experience as first time Platinum cruises.

We really did not know what to expect and at this point don't know if all Carnival ships handle the Concierge Club in the same manor. I can tell you that we enjoyed it all. It started at check in in a private room at Port Canaveral after our docs and passports were checked we were escorted onto the Glory by a Carnival VIP staff member. It was great, we were one of the first on the ship. It was 11:40 AM and were on our way to the Lido deck. The fun just kept coming.

We could not get into our cabin before 1:30, but when we entered were we surprised. This was a birthday cruise for our 12-year old grandson. The cabin was decorated for his birthday. There was a note wishing him a happy birthday from the CEO of Carnival There was a bottle of wine from Bob Dickinson for us. There were 2 Carnival key chains along with a welcome back letter, which I will try to add to this post, there was personalized stationary for both my wife and I. Each day we received another gift. One day some canapes then a plate of petit fours, then a Carnival tote bag, a box of fresh backed cookies. We had our laundry washed and folded, which was really nive. If we were being tendered in a port we would have had priority boarding which will be nice if ever needed. We were both offered a $20 entry into the slot or Blackjack Tournament. We were greeted warmly whenever our Sail & Sign card was needed. At debarkation we wre escorted off the ship into the hands of a porter who went for our luggage and toted it across to the parking area. All in all I can't say enough about the Platinum program.

We cruise next month on the Liberty. I am curious to see if all this will be repeated. No I am not a greedy person, I am just curious to see if each ship does the same thing. If I get nothing buy priority embarkation and debarkation I will be a happy cruiser.

Be forwarned about the laundry service though... it is washed and folded. It is not ironed so it will not be wrinkle free. So I find it best to use it just on things you are bringing home after wearing so you don't have to do it when you get home. Unless of course you spilled something and need it cleaned to wear again and will have it pressed.

Wow that is awesome for you. Hope your good fortune continues.

 

I have a question for you about that cruise if you don't mind. We are planning that same week next year and curious if you noticed alot of teens? Our DD who will be 15 is afraid she will have no kids to hang out with and have to hang out with us OLD FOLKS.

I was on the Glory in Feb. and was so happy when I got the VIP treatment. It was so nice I felt like I was a VIP. When I got back home I checked my card from the Valor two years ago and it was Platium but I didn't get any special treatment on it. I have wondered what the difference was. I am like you the embarkation and the debarkation made me happy in itself.

 

I find boarding in Port Canaveral and boarding in Miami is as different as night and day. Also of all the ships I have been on the Glory has to be my favorite.

The week we went was the Spring Break week for our grandson. It must have been for others as well. There were plenty of kids of all ages on board. We were surprised at how many collage age cruisers were onboard.

I've only been on 2 cruises...Glory 04 and Fantasy 06..but we are booked back on the Glory June 07..we had that good of a time on her. Nice to hear another share our sentiment.

 

Which port do you prefer for embarkation?....Canaveral or Miami..we have used Canaveral each time.

We are booked on the Glory for June 2!!! We sailed from Miami last summer. What was the differences in the ports for you? Good or bad.

We live in Orlando also. I know it was spring break for Orange and Seminole County public schools, as well as area colleges -- UCF, Rollins and Valencia.

What I feel the difference between Port Canaveral and Miami.

 

PC the traffic isn't as bad, less people because the cruise ships are farther apart. The people working at there were so nice and organized.

 

Miami is definately a madhouse, of course Miami is a big city with a lot of cruise ship all in one area.

since you are just off Glory, who is cruise Director now? When we were there in October 06, it was Dana. who does it now?

Although I have never sailed out of Miami I must say PC is so clean & just looks so organized. Only downfall I saw was when you disembark if you do self assist you have to carry all luggage down an escalator.
