sfilbert Posted March 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Can anyone give me some advise on Crown and Sea Princess? I have a choice as of now during the timeframe that I could do the Crown and Serenade of the Sea during the same period of time and leaving from San Juan or do only Sea Princess. Can anyone that have sailed on these ships tell me what they prefer? Thank you
Calif Cruisers Posted March 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2007 Just off Sea Princess last weekend which had a fantastic itinerary! We prefer the larger ships like the Crown which we sailed Oct 06 out of NY. Liked the two pool areas (one with movies, one with music) in addition to the quiet aft pool. Sea has their two main pools in one area with mostly muted MUTS during the day (headphones). Loved the two specialty restaurants on Crown, Sabatini's and Crowne Grill - worth the extra $. Sea has Sterlings Steakhouse and two nights we had dinner under the stars overlooking MUTS with Three Tenors playing one night and Frank Sinatra the next. Very elegant. We liked entertainment options better on Crown. It had more options that we liked at night. The cruise director staff on Crown was exceptional, it a made a big difference!! Casino much smaller on Sea, which isn't important to us as we don't gamble much. Sea Princess had some PAX getting on/off at Barbardos and some at Ft Lauderdale so it kept it interesting with new arrivals/departures midway. High percentage of Brits on our cruise which was great. We enjoyed meeting all the new people with our anytime dining option. It's a hard decision. The islands and excursions we did on Grand Adventurer were our favorites so far so I would say you won't be disappointed with that cruise. Crown is a beautiful ship and I'm sure you would enjoy her. Any specific questions, just ask. Have a great cruise!!

We also like the larger ships, but sometimes you end up on a cruise with people from California that drink too much, talk to much and are way to beautiful to be on ship....Love you guys and miss you both...Christine & Terry:D
okbowler Posted March 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2007 Have not been on Crown. Sea Princess pluses: leaves from Ft Lauderdale port intensive(only 2 sea days)? meet other cultures seldom visited ports small ship(easy to get around) its Princess Sea Princess Minuses Small casino Entertainment tipped towards UK passengers. Things that I listed as +&- are my opinions, many may not agree. Ship has about 80% of its passengers from the UK. We found this delightful. There was no problem finding good food to eat. UK bent seemed to be mostly at breakfast, but most US breakfast items also available. Great ship, Great Crew, Great itinerery.imho Bill:)

coiran Posted March 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2007 We prefer the smaller ships, like the Sea. We just did the Sea 14 day and enjoyed it very much. I don't think the California folks drink too much, they just have to learn to drink. Hey Val, Beth - enjoyed you folks - I have some pix I will be forwarding as soon as I unpack and find the e mail address cards. Ron
Calif Cruisers Posted March 22, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 22, 2007 Hey Christine & Terry, nice to hear from you. We still owe you guys a drink for making all those Oggie's Crew pins! Sorry we didn't get to do that onboard. We were busy with our first time cruiser friends. Wasn't that island party fun??? Hope to cruise with you again in the near future! Ron, it was nice meeting you and Connie too. We have pictures of you guys from the sunset tour which we'll forward once we get your email. I'd like to be back on the Sea or the Crown right now!! Mbouck1 Posted March 22, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2007 We have been on both the Crown Princess and the Sea Princess. The Sea Princess was our first cruise ship we were on and are a bit partial to it. We did the Sea Princess also for a btb and very much enjoyed it. I also like the atmosphere of the Sun class ships over the Grand class. These ships seem more intimate. We will be sailing the Crown again this coming August and are also looking forward to it. If you also want the feel of a Sun class and the Grand class I would recommend the Island Princess which seemed like both to me.
