  1. Grand is such a nice ship. We sailed on her out of Southampton to Bruges and Scandinavia. Loved the ship and indoor pool came handy. I wish Princess kept indoor pools! Elite perks on X are amazing. We just sailed as Elites for the first time and loved breakfast in Tuscan Grill... Sky lounge end other perks. Princess has much cheaper internet, and Platinums (which we are) have free 250 minutes on 8 days or longer cruises.
  2. For us both of them are #1 out of 8 lines we cruised with although due to logistics and not a large presence in Northeast we only have 6 cruises with each. (At this point our "leaders" are Royal Caribbean with 14 and NCL with 9. Both of them beat Princess and Celebrity in entertainment, but lose at refinement) Celebrity is a bit more refined with more touches of luxury. I always thought cabins were the only one weakness of Princess.. now after upgrade "Revolution" Celebrity added even more luxury there. This is how our inside room on Summit looked like last week. There are other nice touches like nice towels weighting for guests at loungers, headphones in gym etc. Food is the best on both lines. Although buffet on Royal Princess to us was the best in the industry. We love Princess's pool setup especially on Grand class, but Princess lacks indoor pools which is a shame as cruises convenient to us to Canada/NE require indoor pool. Celebrity's inside pools are beautiful and on Millennium class they are even therapeutic. Internet is more expensive on Celebrity and streaming internet is TOO expensive especially if you compare to new internet on Princess. We are Elite on Celebrity (via Royal Caribbean) and perks for Elites are amazing and better t what we saw for Princess Elites (Breakfast daily with Mimosa/BM/Bellinis in special restaurants, Happy 2 hours in special lounge and any bars from limited menus etc). Princess provides 150-250 Free minutes at Platinum level (but internet is so cheap we just bought unlimited for upcoming cruise. Actually our TA gave it to us for free for 4 devices, but at that price we would buy it without second sought) None of these lines is famous for active night life or entertainment, but we find Princess to be more fun in this regard.
  3. If you have massive plans for St Petersburg I would save energy. We did (on our own) Hop On/Hop Off bus which departs right from the port and in a process visited Rosenborg Castle which is smaller, but still extremely interesting inside. We stayed in Copenhagen overnight and went to see little Mermaid at night as during the day place looked like a zoo!
  4. The oldest crowd in all our 43 cruises with 8 lines was in September after Labor Day on Royal Caribbean (!!!!) 7 days cruise to Canada. People were celebrating 95th birthdays in drowes... I wouldn't judge line by 1 cruise. Princess is a wonderful line.
  5. Princess is more elegant and people wear on average nicer clothes than on free style NCL, but I wouldn't call it formal. Even in Europe we did not see many tuxes or dark suits.. Not Cunard šŸ™‚
  6. It depends when you sail. During holidays and school vacations Princess has much more families than Holland. Holland is closer to Celebrity. Both are a bit more upscale than Princess (all three are Premium) I agree about NCL and RCCL competition... Carnival is a bit lower in our book. More like Costa and MSC
  7. We cruise with various lines and Princess is our favorite (although we only have 6 cruises with them) and NCL we also enjoy a lot. Things we enjoy more with Princess: Pools! You have actual adult areas with pools. In holiday time when there are 500-700 kids it comes handy. On majority of Princess ships there are 4 pool areas - 2 adult only , 1 with music and 1 with Movies under the Stars Included food. Especially buffets on new Royal and Regal Princess are the best in industry. So much seafood. We find Princess to be more elegant overall. Things we enjoy more with NCL (cruised 9 times) : (we did not like Breakaway class, so it is mostly about Dawn and Jewel classes) Overall vibe. I love how you can go along promenade deck and listen to music in various places Shows are the best (approx tie with RCCL depending on the ship) Love O'Sheehan's. Both cruise lines lack indoor pools for everybody, although on Majestic Princess it is finally added I believe
  8. I believe Princess also has a limit on alcoholic drinks at 15. Price is industry standard (NCL has it at $99 with 20%, and it is limited), some others are at $65 + gratuities. Many companies make all adults in the same cabins buy package.
  9. We tried Breakaway and decided that we won't be sailing on there large ships. Dawn & Gem classes only. Waterfront was great on B class, but pools are not adequate for such crowds. We like large ships of Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity etc, but not NCL.
  10. Why would you play slots if you want to win? They have the lowest odds... In all games players have lower odds than casino, but at least some are somewhat close. Black Jack, Craps ... I think in Black Jack you are 42 against Casino's 58.
  11. 9 cruises with NCL and 6 with Celebrity Ncl has more smaller scale entertainment in lounges and better quality entertainment in theater, more variety of included and per fee food, Celebrity has more upscale and sophisticated feel, better included food, better pools (including indoor pools which NCL lacks) .
  12. Carnival cannot be compared to Celebrity by any means. Entry level cruising. With Princess... I thought Princess was pretty close to X in MDR. Buffets on newer ships Regal and Royal beat all other 7 lines we sailed with.
  13. Support would be much greater if more money was spent to educate people from childhood. Unfortunately priorities for tax spending are very different in our country. Oh well.
  14. Enjoy! We just disembarked today. Great ship as always. I wish we had ballet performance on our sailing.
  15. Rusian ballet of course must make a profit. And they do at home and traveling. Nobody is attacking you, but there are various types of entertainment on all ships. Is Celebrity discontinuing other types, because of ballet (on some sailings)? Iā€™m sure there will still be comedians, singers , production shows etc as always.
