CCL Tour to or from Ship

Has anyone taken the CCL countrside tour or 11 hour vatican/Rome tour that they offer to or from the ship? Was it worth the money. If you took the tour on the way to the ship what time did they pick you up at the hotel and what time did you get to the ship?

We are doing the "rome at a glance" tour, the way they explained it is that they have shuttles starting at 10am to noon, you catch one, and it's basically 3 hours - long way - to get you from the CCL hotel to the port.

 

We booked a CCL hotel, but not through Carnival, but we were able to pick up the transfer anyway.
