cruisebound2007 Posted March 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2007 How do you know what dinner seating you are at? I have read others talk about late seating or early seating. I don't remember asking for a particular seating and there is nothing on my cruise documents about which seating I will have. Thanks.:D
Hedy31 Posted March 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2007 When we booked our cruise with the TA she asked us which seating we wanted. Give your TA a call and find out. Also, from what I've read on the boards, we'll find out which seating we get when we get to our stateroom.
Rare carlmm Posted March 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2007 Not all cruises have assigned dinning times. Maybe you are on one without? (For example: On NCL you do not have a reserved table and have to find one each night. In Cunard's Grill Class your table is yours for all meals and you can come whenever you like in a two hours window. Some just have one fixed seating.) Yet most ships nowadays have two seatings. You will find a card in your cabin stating your seating and your table number. If you care about the time you should contact your TA to send your request out. cherylandtk Posted March 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2007 Also, some lines only take your seating as a request and officially assign your seating at check-in. Others will confirm your seating when you book.
zentmrs Posted March 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2007 My cruise docs say that I am "wait-listed" for the 8:45 dinner seating. I guess we find out when we get there?
barbarah33 Posted March 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2007 If you’re waitlisted for the late seating then you are currently assigned to the early. Even if you don’t clear the list by the time you check-in don’t fret. If you still prefer the late seating wait until after the first dinner then go ask the maitre’d to please move you to the late. Often people will want to switch after the first meal. Hopefully by then you will be able to get what you want.
Cotton Posted March 22, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2007 Cruisebound - Hi there. It would help us to know which cruiseline or ship you'll be on, as most have varying policies.:) Carnival, for instance..... Your booking agent should have ask which seating you prefer - early or late. This is always only a request (except for Platinum status passengers), and you won't know until you receive your Sail & Sign card just prior to boarding the ship. Your S&S card will have the dining room and time embossed on there. If this isn't what you prefer, you can see the Maitre d' at the appointed time (listed in the ship's daily newsletter "Capers"), and request a different seating.
