boingy300 Posted March 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I recall this thread a few years ago and can't find it. I really enjoyed it, but it was before I got my IPOD. I am putting together a playlist for great cruise music, for our upcoming cruise. I would love to hear what other people think of when they think "Cruise Music". I'm pathetic I keep humming "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas, for those hump cabins. LOL. I'd love to hear what fellow Cruise Critics would put on their IPOD/MP3 player! Thanks! CaribbeanCrush Posted March 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Well, you have to have the Buster Poindexter classic, Hot Hot Hot. That always makes me think about cruising. It's a good sail-a-way song.
boingy300 Posted March 23, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I like Christopher Cross - "Sailing" and there was another one I can't recall who does it. "If there's one thing in my life I'm missing, it's the time that I spend alone. Sailing on the bright and clear blue waters. It's part of a special feeling, being out on the sea alone. The albatros and the whale they are my brothers". Help a sister out here. Who sings that song? Thanks!

AudioFilly Posted March 23, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I'm working on our music now! I have a really eclectic mix that I put together for vacation. Some of these aren't necessarily cruise related, but we heard them on vacation at some point and they became "Our" vacation music. kittymom65 Posted March 23, 2007 #15 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I can't go to the beach without my Jimmy Buffett! Also, I highly recommend you download the whole Kenny Chesney CD "Be As You Are, Songs From an Old Blue Chair"--I have been a fan of his for a long time, and I love this CD. He wrote all of the songs from his home or on his boat in St. John--and now that I have been there, those songs on that CD really take me back there every time I hear them, and I have a new appreciation for this music. Don't forget the Bob Marley either--No Woman No Cry
RetiredMustang Posted March 23, 2007 #16 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Im partial to Bob Marley. Yes! Excellent upbeat songs of his are "3 Little Birds" and "One Love" but I also like the more contemplative "No Woman, No Cry" and "Redemption Song". A few others: * Jimmy Buffet, of course. "Margartaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "Volcano" are obvious choices, but don't overlook "We Are The People Our Parents Warned Us About", "Tin Cup Chalice", and "Pencil Thin Mustache". * "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills and Nash * And of course, how could you do a Caribbean cruise without Bobby Bloom's "Montego Bay"?:D

boingy300 Posted March 24, 2007 Author #25 Share Posted March 24, 2007 So nice to come home to all these FRESH ideas for my playlist! Great Job! Keep 'em coming! I feel like Camen Miranda, or as Stephen Colbert said this week on his show, describing Willie Nelson: "He's Like A Rastafarian with Glaucoma". I am ready for the islands and the music! Oh, here's one: Zombie Jamboree! ( I am most familiar with the group Rockapella's version) It's worth sampling if you are on the same hunt I am on! Enjoy!
