Galveston traffic Sunday, April 1, 2007?

We were thinking of staying over in Houston and driving to the port on Sunday- do those of you familiar with this area advise against this based on traffic, or spring break??? Are the roads leading to the port typically congested in the late morning on Sundays or are any of you aware of a special event next weekend in Galveston that might contribute to heavy Sunday traffic? Thank you for your advice!

You won't have a problem, there will be day trippers headed for the beach, but traffic will be light all the way down.

Either take Harborside the first exit after the causeway, and follow it around, or continue down 45/Broadway and follow the signs to the terminals.

I usually leave Houston 10 to 11 in the morning on a weekend departure. Puts us at the cruise ship 11:30ish to 12:30ish.

There is a lot of construction going on in Houston. Right now the Katy Fwy (I-10 west) is all messed up. You might want to check for construction delays if you're worried.
