Rome Hotels & Tour Advice

We will be on the 20 day eastern and western Meditterranean on the Westerdam on May 10. We do our own travel planning and it's been over 20 years since we've been in Rome. Can anyone recommend a good hotel in a central location. Also looking for tour guide recommendations for stops in Naples, Livorno, Sicily and Dubrovnik. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search on this board as all your questions have been asked and answered many times re hotels in Rome and guides for your ports some of which you could do on your own if you wanted...Livorno..take the train into Florence and Dubrovnik is doable on your own.Naples you will have many options.Here is a link for hotels that may be of help re Rome.

I cant help you with the hotel, but for tour guides, I can make a unequivocal recommendation. When we toured in Rome and Naples, we had an excellent tour guide, Fabrizio Melaragno. He has a web site, www.allarounditaly.net

We have recommended him to friends of ours who used him last year for Rome, and they loved him as well. He is very funny, has excellent language and driving skills, and can find parking places where you would swear none existed. We are using him for a non-cruise transfer from Civitavecchia in Novemeber of this year. I would recommend him for any transportation or tour needs.

I also recomend Fabrizio for tours. I've used him in Rome, Livorno and Naples. We're using him again this year five days!
