CruisinMatt Posted March 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2007 The article is here http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070330/clf070.html?.v=20 The Yachts of Seabourn -- The intimate size of Seabourn's 208-passenger ships limits the opportunities for hosting a five-kilometer walk. Instead, the line conducts "Quiz for the Cure" team trivia contests in which participants can make a voluntary $25 donation and receive a special "On Deck for the Cure" visor and wristband. crystal808 Posted March 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Thanks for the info, Matt! I've already done one of the HAL walks...with foot problems, I only made a few "token" rounds (until it was uncomfortable), but it was a wonderful atmosphere, and the entire CruiseCritic group on board participated. Have any of us actually NOT been effected by someone fighting this? Whether breast cancer, or any other form, it's a wonderful way to help support the continued research that will, in one way or another, effect us all. Kudos to the Carnival Corp. for underwriting this valiant undertaking. Paul who looks forward to many more opportunities to "Walk" or "Quiz"
bldsld Posted March 31, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Matt, thanks for posting the link. Finally, a reason to play trivia for something other than a bookmark! :)I hope the fundraising has started by the time we sail from Athens next month. Kudos to Seabourn. dmb707 Posted April 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2007 Thanks Matt for posting the information, it is wonderful idea for raising money for a cause that as Paul states affects us all in some way. Does anyone know how many laps of the ship 5 km would be? Donating money for playing Trivia is a great idea. Thanks again for the info deb
JaneBP Posted April 1, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2007 >"Does anyone know how many laps of the ship 5 km would be?" Using 1k=5/8 of a mile and 16 laps/mile I figure about 50 laps (3.1 miles) does it. I would 'sponsor' a walker. I will be at the Sky Bar with encouraging words and a BBC.
