On the subject of Hurtigruten (Norwegian Coastal Voyage) - personally it looks fantastic but I would just like to point out that it is by all accounts not for everyone.

If you are looking for a very authentic Norwegian experience, by all means go, as everyone I know who has loved it. If you are looking for a traditional cruise, I would take just that.

To get an idea of what the Hurtigruten is about I'd suggest taking a look at the official US site. If you were to look into it I would definitely recommend going for one of the Millennium Ships (TROLLFJORD, MIDNATSOL, or FINNMARKEN - the first two are sisters, the latter different, people I know who are familiar with both are divided in their preferences) as they are the closest things to real cruise ships on the Hurtigruten. If you're interested I have several links with photos, information etc. on these ships and other Hurtigruten info.

On another note, if you are used to Cunard but are thinking you may want a smaller ship - why not try CARONIA? If you want something smaller I imagine she's probably the closest thing out there to the QUEENs. There are lots of people on these boards who are familiar with her and I'm sure could provide lots of information etc.

Thank you for the ideas...maybe we could do a transatlantic on the QM2 and fly from London to Norway pick up the smaller boat and fly home through London on the "free" flight back to NY. Any other experiences such as the 7day vs the 12 day Norway cruises..any other lines any one has traveled..you are such a help
