cabin decorations

My daughter graduates from college in May, and I'm taking her on a 4 day Carribbean cruise out of N.O. She will starting graduate school in August. I'm so proud of her! Does anyone have any suggestions about decorating the cabin for her or some special treat on board that I can set up? You all always have such good ideas. :)

Cabin decorations sold through the Bon Voyage dept are always a lot of fun! (You can get em done for free if you are an OPC member) The Bon Voyage dept also has many other 'treats' you can surprise her with! (Chocolates, Carnival gear, flowers etc...)

I like my own decorations better;) Make a door sign, takes no space packing. A banner is nice, hang it on the wall. Ballons can be added with double sided sticky tape. There is a lot you can do to make the cabin special and not take up any packing space:) Flowers can be orderd from the cruise line. A congrats cake to have delivered at dinner is nice, it spreads the celebrating. (What I don't like about the cruise line decorations is they hang down and make the room feel like it is closing in.

if u r not a scrapbooker..I'm not...go to craft store, or Dollar Tree if close by u..all stuff is a buck...paper, that is her colors..no too fussy, cuz you'll put bizzy stuff on it. Stickers, sayings..maybe her grad announcement..ribbons in school colors...if you want to $$$, large craft stores have nice theme pkgs of Grad items..to keep the integrety of the page for the door, and so it "could" go in a scrapbook....doors may, or maynot be metal..or maybe to heavy for it to stay on..cut up magnetic strips, or those biz cards we all have on the fridge...I tape those on..just the outside edges as the tape will dilute the magnet..I then double stick wide tape, and it pulls off when you have to:( take it down..leave the thin mag squares on, even for scrap book...I go to my local Post office and get a free "flat rate" $8.10 size cardboard box..u just walk in and take off the mailer shelf...I leave mine flat and just slip in the pages for transport, also photos I buy.It slips nicely in the inside pocket of a suitcase.Make another page..for pax to autograph..hang pen from one of the ribbons. Start this yourself..and others will follow suit. maybe include her grad photo on it, school emblem etc..surprise her, or have a party to make it....Happy Cruising memories..and best wishes to the graduate

These are great ideas! I'm heading for Michaels tomorrow for supplies (and the post office for a mailing box). How do I go about ordering a congrat cake for her at dinner? Thanks everybody for helping get those creative juices flowing!:)

try M D, when you go to make your dinner res..w/o her of course..You might take some "stand up" grad things, or make a topper out of some of the S book stuff..you might use a wedding cake holder as a base..orcakes are usually less than 8 in across.. some Fun Foam in school colors to build it on so it will come off easy..double stick 2 pcs, rd or sqr, bk to bk so that one rests on the cake, and you can pull it apart and no icing is on it..great photo op!..What will DD do for a career?

OPC is the Ocean Players Club (Casino)... if you email them, even if you're not yet a member, and ask about signing up onboard etc... you *may* be surprised with cabin decorations &/or other goodies.
