bmccarthy Posted April 8, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2007 We went to the Murder Mystery Dinner last week while on the Jewel. It was in Portofino on Wednesday night. They served champagne and appetizers first in the Safari Club. Then we moved into the restaurant for dinner. In between courses, the actors came around to the tables and answered questions for the guests. It was a lot fun, unfortunately the menu is already set so it doesn't give you much of an option. Priusprof Posted April 8, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2007 What is the menu and the minimum age? They are doing this on most of the ships. We did this on Brilliance in February and every ship has it on a different night based on the itinerary and length of the cruise. Here is how it plays out: It costs $49.50 pp instead of $20 It starts in the lounge @ 6:45 with drinks and hors d'oeuvres. This is where the play starts and the players are introduced. The cast is comprised of the RCCL singers and dancers. The menu is a fixed menu with entree choices of filet, chicken, or fish. Appetiser to desert is predetermined. The tables are arranged around the whole restaurant and all are for 12 people. When you make your reservation you tell them the size of your party and they arrange the seating. In between courses the mystery unfolds around you and you have two things to collectively figure out as a group. You question the characters and then try to solve the mystery. There are prizes for those who solve the mystery correctly. The dinner wrapped up at about 10 PM This is very popular and sells out completely. I would not do it again because I prefer Portofino for the menu and quite frankly it was not worth twice the price plus! The cast was ok on Brilliance but the feedback from Mariner was not so good. Minimum age for Portofino is 13 however I do not remember any change for this event.
Pumbaamd Posted April 8, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2007 Must be new on Brilliance. We've sailed her twice and it was not available. Up next we have Empress 7 days from Philly and Jewel 6 days outta FLL. Is the deal available either of those trips? Thanks!
