ParrotRob Posted April 9, 2007 #27 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Just pack the liquor in your suitcase in the original containers and and put plenty of soft material or bubble wrap around it. Many brands come in plastic bottles. I would not want a drink from a bottle of mouthwash, a plastic bag that looks like a celebrity bag or someother type of container. I pack well and put the bottles on the counter in my stateroom and have never had a problem no matter what the cruiselines' policy is. Act like an adult and you will be treated like one. I don't consider taking a few bottles on board smuggling. Taking a lot of duty free off w/o declaring it is smuggling. Failing to follow US Customs rule is a violation of law, taking your own liquor for in cabin consuption is a matter of choice. You're right, it IS a matter of choice. Unfortunately, it's not YOUR choice, it's theirs.
Chronic Observer Posted April 9, 2007 #28 Share Posted April 9, 2007 I'm going to replace my birth control pills with ecstacy... could you imagine??? jdjaguar Posted April 9, 2007 #30 Share Posted April 9, 2007 You're right, it IS a matter of choice. Unfortunately, it's not YOUR choice, it's theirs. It is his choice to bring it on board, it is CCL's right to confiscate it. I too will exercise my choice and bring a 750ml of Captain Morgan in my checked luggage. I will more than likely leave 1/2 of it for the cabin steward after the cruise is over as I purchase most of my drinks in the casino/bars and all of my wine at dinner. CCL may exercise their right to confiscate said bottle of Captain Morgan, but if they don't...we can enjoy the occasional cocktail on our balcony as we cruise out of ports...w/o having to run to the nearest bar station. No harm...no foul. Just an exercise in some personal freedom. remember that?
cotts Posted April 9, 2007 #31 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Las Vegas, I am laughing so hard I almost wet my pants! AHA, I haven't thought of that way to smuggle:rolleyes: , but it just might work. A nice thick fleecy pair in simple black. Just squeeze them out once on board.:D
Tenga1899 Posted April 9, 2007 #32 Share Posted April 9, 2007 With 2000+ bags going on board they cant check them all.. So here is my thoughts on this topic... Everyone is allowed to bring one bottle of wine, on board yet, correct?? Empty out the wine bottle and refill with vodka or your choice. :D And even better, make it a magnum bottle..."Hey, you said one bottle of wine!" "We didn't mean one that a child could swim in!" Everyone is allowed to bring one bottle of wine, on board yet, correct?? Empty out the wine bottle and refill with vodka or your choice. :D Our friend did exactly that, he filled 3 empty wine bottles with Crown Royal, recorked them and even dipped the tops in wax to look like the original bottles! It worked quite well for him.

sallyb Posted April 9, 2007 #38 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Cabin stewards cannot accept alcohol, they can be fired for it. Our steward on Victory 2 years ago accepted alcohol. Is this a new rule?
Knights on the Beach Posted April 9, 2007 #39 Share Posted April 9, 2007 I have read on here countless times that people leave leftover alcohol for their room stewards. Who knows what they do with it, but I have never seen a post that said the steward refused it.

Who knows what they do with it, but I have never seen a post that said the steward refused it. The steward we had on the Miracle said he always ends up having a few bottles from every cruise that people leave... he said it gets tossed with everything else... something to the effect "would you trust drinking from an opened bottle that strangers left", LOL.. I don't blame them. I wouldn't either... now, an unopened bottle?? That would be a different story :D
Az_Redneck Posted April 9, 2007 #41 Share Posted April 9, 2007 LOL Chronic!!! Now THAT is one thing you WILL get thrown off the ship for... :p Back to topic: DW and I just wrap the original unopened bottle in bubble wrap and towels and put it in our check in luggage. No issues on "smuggling" or changing bottles and disguising it. But, to each their own..
Minoushka Posted April 9, 2007 #42 Share Posted April 9, 2007 what if we could buy wine or liquor not duty free prices on ship 1 ,5 price and be allowed to take it enjoy it in our cabin only , we would need to purchase at bar to enjoy elsewhere seems fair to me they would still make the bucks and we could stop all this smuggling nonsence which is beyond ridiculous and super checking of all things liquid i'm sure lines would still make a bundle i would buy a bottle for my cabin now i hear we cannot bring sodas i always allow my kids 2 12 packs before we board for the grand price of 3 bucks each versus 28 $for a soda card now seems that is gone too they remove those too what next are you going to frisk me ? duh...........do the math what a rip off lower your prices cruise lines we will all drink more and do put some liquor in them please
vegas coach Posted April 9, 2007 #43 Share Posted April 9, 2007 We just returned from the Legend on the 1st and we smuggled 2 18 packs of bud light. Eack pack was inside a tied garbage bag and placed into 2 different suitcases. We thought we would never see them again but what a shocker both made it to the room no problems and none damaged. kujobie Posted April 9, 2007 #46 Share Posted April 9, 2007 stole the line from kujobie. but anyways, one of the more original ideas i heard of was to empty a 12 pack of soda and fill it with cans of beer. anymore nominees? My material is copyrighted, I believe I'm due some royalties here.. :) Anyways, I don't get creative, but I have been known to smuggle mass quantities. We once bought an old, hardsided suitcase from a thrift store, 26'', for $5, and stuffed it with a case of beer, liter of vodka, liter of rum, six 20 oz cokes, six 20 oz waters and a couple limes. The thing weighed a ton. The porter just smiled at me when he took it, gave him a little extra tip. We just left the suitcase behind after the cruise. May do that again on the Valor in 13 days.. David-n-Rita Posted April 9, 2007 #47 Share Posted April 9, 2007 Let's see, there are about 2000 passengers on each cruise. Each person probably checks a least 2 bags, some people more than that. Let's say....5000 pieces of checked luggage....they run it through Xray..... and that is probably it.....don't forget you have it shortly after getting on board.....there is so much to do in the short amount of time in port, do you think they are opening or care about you mouthwash bottle or even notice? If they opened every bottle of liquid in all 5000 suitcases, you'd never get your luggage.
