jhannah Posted August 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2004 Well, let's see. You basically have three choices: Cable TV Satellite TV Airwaves TV I'd guess satellite coverage. :D You can count on Superbowl viewing, conditions permitting.

Much to DH's dismay - most of the time we only get ESPN International... I have heard the newer ships (Vista) have satelite coverage and pax were able to watch play-off games, Super Bowl, etc. We were on the Maasdam this past spring and did see only a few of the NCAA final games - about 20 guys piled around a very small TV at the Casino Bar... I've never seen so mnay guys try and watch such a small TV. The bartender moved it down to the bar so more people could actually see it!
Bill S Posted August 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2004 Chrlie: don't lose hope! We were on the Amsterdam last Dec 18 through Jan 7, and bless the HAL bean counters' hearts, they paid to have full satellite coverage of all the NFL playoff games. Hopefully, they will be in the holiday spirit again this year for you!
elmorejj Posted August 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2004 On all of our Holiday cruises I have noticed that they have the playoff games. They even bring in extra chairs for viewers to sit on...don`t give up hope......jean
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2004 :) But on the Maasdam there isn't a big screen TV anymore. Just 3 small TV's above the casino bar and there isn't any place to put up extra chairs because of all the slot machines. :)
Bill S Posted August 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2004 I forgot to mention, that on the Amsterdam, in addition to showing the games on the big screen tv in Sports Bar, they also televised the play-off games in the Wajang Theatre. That is most unfortunate that HAL has chosen to eliminate the big screen tv from the Sports Bars. You would think that if they were going to do this, that they would at least move it to some other place. . . . . . . .like my cabin! (only kidding)
Charlie2na Posted August 6, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Well..... we'll hope for the best ! Wajang theatre's screen is BIG enough!! That would work nicely!
LizB1 Posted August 6, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 6, 2004 If the Maasdam is within satellite range for reception you can be sure they will have the Super Bowl on TV. When we were on the Rotterdam World Cruise in 2001 they had two big screens set up in the Queen's Lounge as well as the big screen in the Sports Bar. Let's hope it's the PATS again this year!! GO PATS!!!
