gatorclaw Posted April 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2007 I see from the Capers that there are hold 'em tourneys for various buy ins. Has anyone around here played in them or know how they work? How many players? What is the payout structure? How long did they take? Etc. Thanks!
bubbles1209 Posted April 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Hi Jason, good to see you lurking the boards again! I too am interested in the answers to these questions. We were on the Liberty in Feb, and they had the electronic tables for hold'em going on, we don't like those at all, not the same. I've read the Valor also has the electronic tables also. qshari Posted April 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I can only tell you how it worked on Destiny. They held 2 tournaments on the sea day. One was at 11 and the next at 1. The buy in was $75. The tournament was played at the electronic table with 10 players. They paid 1st -3rd place. The casino keeps $15 of the $75 so first place got $300(50%), 2nd got 30%, and 3rd got 20%. From talking to the casino host I think they either have the electronic tables on all the ships or they plan to soon. HTH
derf5585 Posted April 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2007 How do the Hold 'em tournements work? It is usually held on the Lido deck by to pool. The person able to hold onto a deck chair the longest is proclaimed the "Chair Hog King" and given a "Stick on a Ship"

Only 1st and 2nd place paid, $180 and $60 perspectively, with the casino keeping the rest. Last year Carnival signed a 3 year deal for having the PokerPro tables on all ships. It takes a little while to get used to the electronic table, but once you do it's not bad. However, I'd still rather have live dealers, chips, and cards. Do they also have the Blackjack version of PokerPro? Casinos in Delaware have them because we don't allow "Table Games" with a dealer.

No, I've never seen those. I suppose it's just a matter of time though. Note - For anyone playing limit cash games ($2/4, 3/6, 5/10) on the PP tables with just 2 or 3 people (especially 2), the real winner on each hand is the casino because of the rake automatically taken out on every hand dealt. You're better off waiting for a full table. Otherwise you're losing money (blinds+rake) on every hand.
ChristieDawn Posted April 10, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2007 What does that mean? Does that means no dealer or cards? Doesn't that take some of the fun out of a good old fashioned poker game?:(

ChristieDawn Posted April 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Does anyone know if these are the tables they use on the Ecstacy? They don't look as fun as having a live dealer and real chips. How do you know that the game is not rigged if it's computerized?

AllenF Posted April 10, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I played the electronic TH on the legend and it is ok but my problems was with players being so drunk and banging on tables not being aware it was there turn etc etc and with no dealer there to control the game it SUCKED. The only good thing about it was you could decide what you wanted to play No Limit, Limit or a tourney if all agreed they would set the table for what ever everybody wanted. You had a button to call a Host to the table which was not exactly in Casino but just outside of it.....hence the out of control players

Ct Cruise Guy Posted April 10, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Allen did you make $$$ playing? I love drunk people, easy to take $$$ from, if it's a cash game how do you cash out or in for that matter?
feelin_peachy Posted April 10, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 10, 2007 We will be on the Spirit in June. DH loves poker and plays 1-2 times a week. We emailed the casino host and this is what he said about it: Our Casino located on Promenade Deck has a variety of table games that you will be able to enjoy during your cruise, including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Caribbean Stud Diamond Edition , Let It Ride, Three Card Poker and of course the "Hottest" game on the planet Texas Hold 'Em. We have over 150 slot machines ranging from 1c to $25 available for your gaming pleasure. Our Texas Hold'em tables are electronic and extremely user friendly. Once the Casino opens you may start an account at the Cashiers which will fund both tournament play and live cash games. You may deposit funds onto this card using cash or your Sail & Sign card, which does have a 3% surcharge. You may also withdraw funds from this card at anytime whilst the Casino is open and there is no charge for that. Our tournaments begin on the opening night of the cruise and the sign ups are taken once the Casino opens. Our opening night tournament is just $25. You may sign up for either or all of our tournaments at this time. We also have tournaments on each sea day beginning at 11am and the buy in for these tournaments is $60. These tournaments are No Limit with no re-buys. At the completion of the tournaments we then offer $3/6 Cash Games for the duration of the days play. All you need is 2 or more players and the games begin. The tables themselves are great and, as mentioned beforehand, very user friendly. Each player has their own touch screen in which to view their own cards. Then when it is your turn to act you simply hit the screen to register your action. You can see all the other players chip counts and the bet that has been made, all on your own monitor. When you are ready to leave simply hit 'quit' and you will be logged out safely. Hope this info helps someone. :)
AllenF Posted April 10, 2007 #17 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Allen did you make $$$ playing? I love drunk people, easy to take $$$ from, if it's a cash game how do you cash out or in for that matter? LIke the info Peachy posted said you just go to Cashier and tell the you want to get the Texas Holdem Card (looks like your sign and sail card) you get a pin # and then you put how much cash you want it to start with and the cashiers adds it to your card.....got to table insert card use how ever much cash you want to start with and play.....say you win 100 bucks it is put on your card when ever you quit so if you started with a 100 and won a 100 next time you play your account would have 200 on it....to cash out just go to Cashier give them the card and tell them how much you want.....they give you a little number pad (like at stores) you punch in your pin and get your money.....I did ok I put a 100 bucks down on my card and cashed out 185 at the end of the week.....it was fun but not as fun as when you have dealer and chips IMHO
