Am I being crazy?

Everything is finalized and ready for my wedding on 6/9/07 on Carnival Glory. I'm super excited and counting down the days! The last thing I am worrying about is my mom's dress. She is planning on wearing a long casual cotton blue and white flowered dress with flip flops. It really resembles a tank top or something you would wear over a bathing suit to the beach. Everyone else plans on dressing very nice. My dad, brother, future father-in-law and brother are all wearing tuxes and my bridesmaids are in pretty bridesmaid dresses. My future mother-in-law is wearing a pretty blue dress she picked up from David's Bridal. I tried to take my mom shopping but she said she hated every dress in the entire mall and refused to even try them on. I told her I'm sure she can find something a bit nicer that she'll like to wear b/c the rest of the wedding party and guests will be dressed nice and I don't want her to feel out of place, but she doesn't even want to look anymore. I finally gave up and told her to wear whatever she wants because at least she'll be comfortable. Secretly this is driving me crazy and I feel horrible that it even bothers me. When I look back at my wedding I'm sure I won't even remember what my mom wore. What do you guys think? I'm I crazy to be bothered by this?

You are not crazy to want everything to go jsut right-- I mean it IS a once in a lifetime experince. Leave it go and just know that you wont even notice what anyone is wearing. Your mom probably wont be uncomfortable.

My mom is wearing a long sleeve pantsuit in August. I worried that it was gonna be too hot. But ya know-- I guess my mom knows what will work and what wont.

I wish you luck on your day.

I don't even know what my mom or my MIL will be wearing to my wedding. Someone on here asked me about that a few days ago and that is when I realized that they may not match. I guess it doesn't bother me. They will be there and that is really all that matters.

I say to do what you want to do.

I don't think she'll feel uncomfortable since she's the one that chose the dress. Just try to smile and bear it.

My wedding is a year away and my mom already has her dress. She has now instructed me to tell everyone else that they are not allowed to wear the same colors because SHE is the mother of the bride. I wonder how I'm going to word that on the invitations

You're not being crazy, it's a tough situation! You don't want to upset your mom, but it is your day. My friend's wedding is before mine (and hers is not on a cruise) and she had the same issue. Her mom just wanted something comfortable, but she really wanted her mom to look spectacular.

Has your mom seen the MILs dress? If you want to try having the conversation again, maybe finding a way to show her a picture of the MIL dress would be a good way to start it. Then she can decide if she really will feel comfortable in the dress she chose. And if she's ok with it, then it's probably best to let it be. But no matter what she wears, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time and you will be so happy that you won't be thinking about any dress other than your own!
