Norfolk overnight

Recommended Posts

Stayed at the Best Western Sands Inn in Oceanview in December, they had a stay and cruise package. Other folks on the same cruise stayed at the Best Western Center Inn (at a lower rate). They didn't advertise a stay and cruise.

You might call both, also I believe the Radisson has a package. You might check with other hotels in the area.

Lived in the area for 20 years before moving to TN last year. Check out the hotels in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. They are all fairly new most were built within the past 5 years. The hotels are close to a mall and plenty of resturants. It's also a short hop (less than 10 miles) to downtown on 464 which is where the cruise terminal is at.

Norfolk has a brand new (April 07) cruise terminal called Half Moone, I believe and it is adjacent to both the Marriott Waterside and the Sheraton Waterside. The cruise terminal itself has parking but I do not know the cost or whether they have long term. The Radisson advertises a park and cruise package. Do like I did and use your search to pull up Norfolk, Va hotels and Norfolk Va cruise terminal.:)

Kroozefoolz- I chuckled with your remark....had to look up the definition just to make sure you were speaking to me! I've been ringing for quite a few years, and only saw that word once before, I think.LOL

Thanks for the referral to the other discussions. I was asked to find somewhere for friends of ours who are joining our group but coming from another direction. I have come to the conclusion that they should drive in and park at the Cedar Grove lot for the week. But that is for the friends to decide!

Hey Bellringer you got me thinking maybe we should start renting out our driveway for a week. I guess we're lucky, we're having our son drop us off in Norfolk since we're in Virginia Beach. Then he'll probably come back and have a huge party at our house. I have lots of spys in the neighborhood watching. What week are you going? This is our first cruise and we're leaving on May 19th.

We are not going until June 23. So, when you come back, be ready for some questions. Take notes, please. Most of the group I am traveling with are coming from the eastern shore of MD, but one couple is coming from Sandston VA. I am thinking they can get one of their sons or our daughter ( their DIL) to drive down and drop them off!

I remember our first cruise ( '91) when we left our girls home for the first time, we made sure every neighbor knew we would be away, and some of our other friends too! The house was in fine condition when we got back....and they received many accolades as a result.

I will be watching for your posts after the cruise and may have a few questions for you to find the answers for before then......I seem to live on this message board:)

Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay before leaving for a Bermuda sail? Is there any hotel, B&B that would keep the car for the week ( either free or a low cost)?

Check the Marriott, it is a much nicer hotel. The radiosson is in a rough neighborhood. There is a bed and breakfast on Fairfax Avenue, I think it is the page house Inn, and there is the Freemasion Inn. I am not sure about parking. When are you going to Bermuda?

Well, I like it better than being called a "dingaling" LOL! Twenty-two years of ringing for me. Did you attend the AGEHR 50th anniversary celebration conference in Norfolk in 2004? (I did :D It was at the Marriott tcocktail mentioned) In fact, I will be at an area festival in June when you leave on your cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

I went to the concert of handbell ringers in OC recently, and thought it was just like I imagine music from heaven! I am about to convince our "new" director at church that our group should be participating in that learning experience next year! I am not great, but always there, and enjoying the experience! At this point in my life, I am old enough to be the mother of most of our group, so that keeps me young.

We are still trying to find an appropriate name for our group other than our nick name "joyful noise". Ring on!
