snorkelgal1 Posted April 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2007 I am wondering if there are taxi's at Gumbalimba Park? Has anyone seen taxi's at the Iguana farm? About how much is it from GP to Iguana Farm and back to the pier or are there Iguana's at GP too?
rafro Posted April 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2007 We've just returned from Grand Princess trip, with stop at Roatan on 4/10. We had a private "tour". For $25 per person for the whole day, we toured the island, went to the Iguana Farm (saw no taxis other than those already hauling tourists around), went zip-lining (highly reccommend South Shore Canopy Tour - but again, no taxis), had great lunch in West End, went snorkeling and sunning at West Bay, and got back to the ship with about 45 minutes to spare. I was told that on cruise days, Gumbalimba is closed to private tours; only tourists booked through their ship can visit. We booked through Victor Bodden tours. Our driver was Shelly - couldn't have asked for a better tour guide! It was like having your favorite aunt take you to all the best places. The folks at Bodden Tours are friends with the folks at Roatan Cab Tours; our driver is the sister of Cinthia, one of the principles in Roatan Cab Tours! She fills in wherever needed. Hope you have as great an adventure as our family did!
Van's Dream Posted April 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2007 I am wondering if there are taxi's at Gumbalimba Park?Has anyone seen taxi's at the Iguana farm? About how much is it from GP to Iguana Farm and back to the pier or are there Iguana's at GP too? The only way you can "do" Gumbalimba park is to book it from the ship, as they are not allowed to accept "walk-up" guests on cruiseship days.. HOWEVER!!...There is lots more to see, and if you want wildlife, the Iguana farm is one of those "shouldn't miss" places... There are many ways to see Roatan.....2 wheel rentals are one way....and of course Island Tours are another; where you have the taxi (or a van, or a bus) for the day....it's better for those not so adventurous or for those larger groups........
