Recent Spirit Cruisers---questions

A few questions for recent Spirit cruisers. This will sound really dumb as I was on the Spirit last year--but I know things change. (but I'm distracting myself from the snow and sleet outside!!)

Are they charging for the use of the steam rooms in the spa? The Aquaspa lap pool?

How has the service been in the spa? (My mom has never had a massage and I definitely want to treat her to one!) Discounts on port days, etc?

How have the trivia contests been? Decent prizes? Time of day?

Daily activities-- crafts? lectures? Games (ie shuffleboard, etc) How has the variety been?

Has Nintendo Wii made it to the Spirit yet?

Are they still doing the Freestyle Rewards Program ($250 buy in for future cruise)

Beer specials in the casino? Are they still doing it?

Are the wonderful Monopoly machines still there??? (these actually financed my second cruise!)

I know many of these questions can be answered by a daily but I haven't seen one in a while. Thanks in advance!!!!

Sorry, don't know.. never even went near the spa. I got a wicked case of empitego from a facial on the Dawn, and have never gone to another cruise-ship spa!

How has the service been in the spa? (My mom has never had a massage and I definitely want to treat her to one!) Discounts on port days, etc?

Again.. never went to the spa.

How have the trivia contests been? Decent prizes? Time of day?

Agh... can't answer that question either.

Daily activities-- crafts? lectures? Games (ie shuffleboard, etc) How has the variety been?

Did the crafts... we made Hawaian Leis, beaded gekkos, and balloon flowers. There was shuffle board on deck 8? or was it 7? Lectures were everything from losing weight to acupuncture to a cooking demo to gem lectures.

Has Nintendo Wii made it to the Spirit yet?

Haven't a clue.

Are they still doing the Freestyle Rewards Program ($250 buy in for future cruise)

Don't know. I buy from a consolidator, so NCL can't touch the prices I get, even with the rewards.

Beer specials in the casino? Are they still doing it?

Don't drink beer.

Are the wonderful Monopoly machines still there??? (these actually financed my second cruise!)

I don't know... I love gambling, but never went to the casino due to the smoke.

Was on the Spirit in Feb. My mom is the only that went to the spa. She really liked the massage but she felt the sales pitch after the massage to sell her all kinds of products was really aggressive. She had to put her foot down and say "that's enough, give me my bill for the massage". When given the bill, she was told that 15% gratuity was included but there was a place to add more...

Can't answer your other questions.

Are they charging for the use of the steam rooms in the spa? The Aquaspa lap pool? my husband used the steam room several times for free. i don't know about the pool. He said there were always someone in it.

How has the service been in the spa? (My mom has never had a massage and I definitely want to treat her to one!) Discounts on port days, etc?

No discount on port days when i went:( They said it was a full ship and they were getting full. i was a bit disappointed in that as I was looking forward to a treatment that was affordable. it depends on how booked they get I guess.

How have the trivia contests been? Decent prizes? Time of day? We did a triva by the pool one afternoon around one or 2. It was a sport version (got 12 out of 20:rolleyes: ) They had trivia several times in the shaghai lounge but we went once and waited 10 minutes and the crew person never showed. I am sure he/she was jsut late but I have a thing for puncuality!

Daily activities-- crafts? lectures? Games (ie shuffleboard, etc) How has the variety been? I did not do any crafts but i did some people making these realy nice roses. There seemed to be something goign on near the Martini bar in teh afternoons for crafts and I think there was scrapbooking in the game room

Has Nintendo Wii made it to the Spirit yet? NOT YET!

Are they still doing the Freestyle Rewards Program ($250 buy in for future cruise) We booked a future cruise on the GEM and thought we got a pretty good deal, We only gor a $150 on board credit.

Beer specials in the casino? Are they still doing it? If they were, I didn't know about it an I drink beer and was in the casino almost every day. I swear they keep this stuff a secret!

Are the wonderful Monopoly machines still there??? (these actually financed my second cruise!) I beleive they are!

I know many of these questions can be answered by a daily but I haven't seen one in a while. Thanks in advance!!!!

I was on teh Spirit 4/1/07. Hope this helped.

Thanks everyone for the info so far! More than anything friend and I want this to be a special cruise for the mom's :D

We are definitely trivia hounds and enjoy playing. We have done the progressive daily trivia on the dawn. We started playing after seeing some of the awesome prizes handed out on the spirit (specialty rest cert, bottles of wine) on the dawn we got lighted key chains :(

I've done the beer specials in the past-- a shoreguy recommendation if I remember right-- stock up the cooler after midnight!!

Again, thanks for you help so far!!!

We used the lap pools several times...no charge.

We did trivia (not progressive though, as it was always around the time we like to eat). You got points on a card, and turned in the card on the last day for prizes. We got a tote bag, a deck of cards, and a couple of keychains with lights.

HI Jenntroubles....

They premiered Nintendo Wii boxing in the Stardust theater big screen on our cruise 4/7/07... Didn't have a chance to go so I don't know. Did the massage on Caya Leventando for $30.00. Not the spa experience probably for your Mom. But a great deal and a great massage. Don't know about beer specials in the casino, but always felt the helmet of beer was a good price.

I booked through Expedia and they sent me and DH each a coupon book. The coupon book has buy 1 get 1 half off for spa services. There is also buy 2 get 1 free drink coupons. If you used a TA ask if he/she can get you a NCL coupon book for your cruise. There are other coupons that might come in handy.:D

Lotsie,

Thanks for the coupon book advice. I checked with my travel agent today--we both paid with NCL mastercards but do not know if that is still the deciding factor for getting them. We were a rebook from the Dawn and do not know if we will be getting them or not. No tickets as of yet :(
