bogforce Posted April 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2007 What are the differences between the 2 islands? Thanks.
gizmo Posted April 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Aruba has much better beaches. St. Martin has better shopping. There is shopping on Aruba but I found them way over priced. St. Martin is French on one side and Dutch on the other. Aruba is Dutch. I like both islands. What kind of activities are you looking for ? smeyer418 Posted April 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Aruba has better roads. St Martin is much closer to the Mainland. Aruba is less developed and more friendly in my opinion. Food is cheaper in St Martin.
alphakitty Posted April 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2007 I think St. Martin's beaches are just beautiful, some of the best I've ever seen. St. Martin is very hilly and lush and green and Aruba is flat and dry desert.
Big Sky Country Posted April 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2007 Aruba can be pretty windy too.
m steve Posted April 19, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2007 Aruba is for you. St. M has it all over Aruba in almost every way.
Arubalisa Posted April 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2007 St. Martin is lush. Aruba is a desert. Aruba receives much less rain, thus chances of better weather and less chance of a hurricane. Both have great beaches. St. Martin has a foreign feel, whereas, Aruba is Americanized. Both have super restaruants. Both are easy to fly to from the US, Aruba maybe a little more so, especially from the East coast.

If you want to get away from the American influence on vacation, then go to Curacao. That was the bomb! I loved it. We are going back for a week! That was the bomb! I loved it. We are going back for a week! Just got off AOS, went to Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarteen and St Thomas. Curacao was our favorite of the 4.
