drb_2000 Posted April 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2007 Any word on the status of the Labadee Zipline and when it will be open. We will be there 5/29 and hope it's open for business. DrB
quikb18b Posted April 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2007 we just got back from the 4/14 sailing and it was not up and running yet.
Pumbaamd Posted April 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2007 Some one posted a week or so ago that it is finished and in testing it was going too fast. They are trying to figure out how to slow it down for safety reasons.
Retired LEO Posted April 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2007 No need for the tender. Just Zip, let go, and right to the pool bar. :D
emd1 Posted April 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2007 What an excellent idea! Send it in to Royal Caribbean! The faster the better on that zip-line, why slow it down...
vacation rccl Posted April 23, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2007 We were just there and the guide on our wave runner excursion said that it was finished, and that he had tried it already. He said that it was a total "rush" and that they would be opening it up by the end of April!

bambam2972 Posted April 23, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2007 Yeah, I'd like to know cost, too. I really want to do a zipline, but have a full day planned in Ocho Rios. Looks like Labadee would be a good choice (like Laura said, if the price is right)
CruisinRoxy Posted April 23, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2007 Really eager to hear more about this zipline. Will it be as good as the one in Jamaica? Or is it as lame as the one in Cozumel supposedly is? Please, please comment when you all get back!! Zip-a-de-doo-dah!:D
Gamecock Jeff Posted April 23, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I didn't take these, but found them on the web. Here are 11 photos of the zip line: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2631605810100890369ZPxJLB
marti2282 Posted April 23, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I didn't take these, but found them on the web. Here are 11 photos of the zip line: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2631605810100890369ZPxJLB These are the photos DH took in March. We tramped all though the bush and could only find two traverses--the looooooong one accross the water shown in the first photos and a short one shown in the last two photos. The shorter of the two was between Dragon's Breath and the beach. Have no idea how these will "work" together. Great distance between the two. jrlaurie Posted April 23, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 23, 2007 We cruise May 13, hopefully this will be up and running by then. I'm curious what the age limit will be. As I have a 9 year old boy who not only acts like a monkey but thinks he is one too, and he is dying to do this. His 2 older brothers can, but I'd feel guilty letting them do it, and not him. I have a feeling it will be 12 years old just like their Jamaica excursion. If anyone going soon could ask for me, I'd apprieciate it. I emailed RCL, about 2 weeks ago regarding date of opening and age requirement, but received no response.
Annefran Posted April 23, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I was wondering how physically hard Ziplining would be? I have arthritis in one of my hips and can't bend certain ways. Can anyone tell me how hard it would be? Thanks, Anne

drb_2000 Posted April 23, 2007 Author #18 Share Posted April 23, 2007 WOW !!!! End of April..... Sounds expensive - I mean sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks. I and many others would love to know if it's open by then. If it is and you decide to take the plunge, please let us know how it is. Based on other responses, it sound like there are two branches to it but far apart. Enjoy your cruise. We're counting the days ourselves. vacation rccl Posted April 23, 2007 #19 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I think they may have two separate lines. One may be for adults and one for the kids????
