Helicopter/dog sled

On Princess Sapphire excursions... which port to do Helicopter/dog sled? Or should I book independent? My DH is a little nervous about upkeep on the helicopters (being an ex-vietman cobra pilot).. which would you recommend and why?

There are only 3 companies to choose from. So your husband may want to do a search of the operator's and compare??

 

Only 1 out of Skagway TEMSCO, they also run out of Juneau along with Coastal and ERA. ERA is a ship contractor who usually doesn't book independent space. TEMSCO also ship contracts.

 

On average, Juneau is the most canceled, but Skagway isn't far behind.

 

ALWAYS have back up plans, knowing what else is available in port of interest for you. This homework will save you considerable time in filling up your port time. Be prepared in a decision of taking a regular glacier helicopter landing if offered as well.

We went on Temsco out of Skagway. Beautiful weather....it was 60 on the glacier when we landed. The staff and look of the Temsco office and helicopter was exceptional. I felt very confident.
