Rare tofubeast Posted April 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2007 Quick question!! I plan to bring my own snorkel, mask and fins when in Labadee. I know RCCL makes you wear a vest. Are they going to charge me to rent the vest? Thanks!
checkard Posted April 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2007 We also bring our own snorkel gear. At CocoCay they made us rent a vest but it was only a couple dollars for the whole day. Later on we saw them just handing them out to folks.
DHADEN Posted April 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2007 Refuse to pay for a vest. If they tell you that you HAVE to rent a vest, point out all the SWIMMERS out there that don't have vests on and ask them why. They will have to either leave you alone or give you a vest for free. Don't know about Labadee, but at least in Cococay this will not fly. You MUST wear a vest in the snorkeling area, and this includes people just swimming. I brought my own mask and snorkel, and just rented vest and fins.
Rare tofubeast Posted April 26, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted April 26, 2007 I am not complaining about having to wear a vest. It just seems silly that they would charge you to wear one...even if you have your own equipment. Booo!!!! I wanted to use those extra dollars towards a labadoozie! elleluv Posted April 26, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2007 We actually bought our own vests... at $20 each, they'll pay for themselves in a short time and they are much cleaner than the sometimes yucky ones we've rented.

Was there a particular kind??? And where did you get them??? I would rather have my own simply because I don't like wearing them when snorkeling. You can't dive efficiently with it on, even if it is deflated as much as possible.

I think this is where we got them... They are a couple bucks more than what I remember paying for them about 3 years ago... http://www.snorkel-mart.com/files/products/details.cfm?ProductID=50 We haven't ever inflated ours... they are totally flat... kittymom65 Posted April 26, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 26, 2007 I will find out about Labadee next year, but at CocoCay you must wear a vest in the snorkeling area, no exceptions. If I remeber correctly, the cost to rent a vest is $6.
OHCruisin Posted April 26, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 26, 2007 I bought my own as well. From same place. As elleluv mentioned, it will pay for itself pretty quickly, since I snorkel a couples times each cruise and have two cruises scheduled this year and two next year. Rather have my own. At least I know where it's been:D
