Tahiti's airport to offer covered passenger access to plane parking area

(Tahitipresse) - The Tahiti-Faa'a Airport will offer a covered access for departing and arriving passengers on international flights at the end of May at a cost of 30 million French Pacific francs (US$352,941/251,399 euros), SETIL-Aéroports has announced.

The covered 160-meter (525-ft.) long access facilities will protect passengers from rainy weather from the airport's departure lounge to the area where aircraft are parked and vice versa, according to a communiqué from the company that manages the airport.

However, passengers will have only umbrella protection against rain from the new covered accesses to the aircraft, and vice versa, although the uncovered walking distance will be reduced considerably. SETIL-Aéroports said it provides passengers with umbrellas when it rains.
