Cruising out of New York on the Crown in August, and doing some sight seeing the day before. We are looking for a hotel. Has anyone stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express in Brooklyn near the Red Hook Terminal? Any suggestions would be of great help.

Last summer we stayed at the Embassy Suites in lower Manhattan. It's right across the street from the World Trade Center site. We opted to take a harbor cruise from Battery Park. There is a free shuttle that is run by the Downtown Alliance. It has a stop right by the hotel and will take you to Battery Park. The port in Red Hook is only 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel. Plus Embassy includes breakfast!

If you want to stay in Brooklyn near the cruise terminal look at the Mariott - it's in a better area.

we are also sailing in Aug on the crown. What is your sail date? We are staying at the Marriot Hotel at the Brooklyn Bridge. It is about 4 miles from the pier. Here is the link check it out. Lot of good reviews regarding this hotel.

Thanks for all the info, I think we are going to stay at the Marriott, we were kind of leaning that way. We are sailing 8/10/07 with our grown sons, my mother and sister, my ex husband and his new wife, her mother and his brother.........will be interesting.:rolleyes:
