Travel from DE to NYC

I apologize if this has already been discussed. I searched the forums and wasn't able to find much.

 

My husband and I live in Dover, Delaware and are going on the Carnival Miracle on 5/11/07 from NYC. We plan on having a friend drive us to the Trenton NJ train station and taking the train to NYC. I was wondering where we should get off to be closest to the port. Penn Station? Also how far is it from the port? We will have to take a taxi. Neither of us know anything about NYC, we have only been there twice. Just looking for advice on what is easiest and cheapest.

Take the train right into Penn Station New York, don't be fooled by Penn Station Newark, NJ. I believe you'll go thru Newark if you're on a regular Amtrak run. Once in NYC, take a taxi, 10/15 mins, 1 mile, 6/8 dollars. Very easy!
