IS RCI chaing their name?

Lots of discussion during the last quarterly corporate meeting about weak demand in the Caribbean and good demand in Europe. Should be interesting to see what is said at the May 1 meeting. As noted by the linked press release, one can listen in during or after the event.

 

It will be interesting to see what transpires over the next few years with RCCL moving its ships to where they can make the most money. They company may have less ships in Alaska in coming years because of the tax --not the $50/head tax but taxes on casino profits, shore excursions etc. that would be added into the cruise price. A higher cruise price in Alaska could depress demand.

 

We were wanting to go to Alaska next summer, but after looking at the prices all around...we'll wait. Hopefully Alaska's tax moves backfire, as I'd hate to see other areas copy it.

 

We were also looking into a 10+ day on the Independance of the Seas for next summer, but at $20k+ total cost for 3 of us...it'll have to wait too.

 

The weakened US Dollar is largely to blame for this. US based companies that can charge so much more for their product elsewhere is pretty much a no-brainer to the bean counters!

But don't forget that you can still get some good discounting on Princess if you have the right TA. On RCI you will be paying what RCI says you are going to pay. So even if the pricing looks close the final result can be substantially different.

 

 

Very good point and thanks for reminding me..........with Princess you CAN get a discount by a TA.........I would also tip my hat to Princess......brochure prices don't fluctuate much like RC does.......the Princess brochure is pretty much what you can count on for a price.

My TA cannot discount the price on an RCI cruise but the OBC that he gives me is just as good. In the end the money all works the same for me.
