atticus Posted June 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Don't know where else I can find an answer to this question so I'll try you all.....I'll be meeting a friend in Penn Staion on Saturday morning and I was hoping one of you would be able to suggst the best meeting point for one person that has never been and another that has some familiarity in getting around the station. I will be coming in on Amtrak. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.
Crouton Posted June 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I'm not currently a New Yorker, but I stayed AT the New Yorker Hotel, less than a block away from Penn Station....if you don't want to hang out in the station itself. It has a fairly nice lobby with a cafe and great people watching. I'm pretty sure it's the closest major hotel to Penn Station besides a fairly dumpy looking (as I recall) Howard Johnsons. Here's a pretty decent map. It's basically right on the corner of 8th Ave and 34th Street -- big signs, hard to miss. Crouton
atticus Posted June 17, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Thanks for the information. Did you happen to get my reimbursement for the shirt you sent on to me?
sandramerle Posted June 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2004 another good place , more easy to get to, is under the clock right near where the ticketing is, this is where the screen is for the platforms from where trains will be leaving from. CruiseShelly Posted June 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2004 There's always Nathan's Hot Dog Stand. Stand out front and you won't be missed.
Chuck & Phyllis Posted June 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I think the best place to meet would be right out front on Seventh Avenue, which is the main entrance to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Follow exit signs for Madison Square Garden, 7th Ave. Once you get out, look to the right and behind and you'll see a court yard so to speak leading to the Madison Sqare Garden entrance above and behind the Penn Station entrance. Stand at the top of the steps and you'll have no trouble meeting up. Chuck & Phyllis Doing Empress on 9/18/04 Doing QM2 on 3/2/
