islahopper Posted May 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2007 I will be on the Legend in July(7-15) and was wondering what the difference is between ship time and shore time. Also are there mini bars in Cat 8e cabins? TIA. Have a great day.
cantw82cruise Posted May 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2007 The two times I have been to Belize the island was 1 hour behind ships time. I was there once in April and once in December. It can be confusing so be sure to keep your watch on ships time. When we were there last December we booked a tour with Coral Breeze and were supposed to meet them at the pier at 9:00. It's a little tough getting off the ship because of tendering. I asked at the pursuers desk about getting off early. They told me the island was two hours behind ships time so it would be no problem meeting our time. Well we got off as soon as we could and found out it was really only an hour difference. serene56 Posted May 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2007 In July the island is 2 hours behind Eastern standard time- If the ship changes time to reflect island time-- I cant help you there. When making excursion plans ask the agent if the time he is giving is it island time or ship time- a 9am excursiontime will be 7am island time. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_BZ.aspx a mini bar will be set up in the refrigerator-- you pay as you go. Please becareful to not mix shore time and ships time as we will leave guests behind that are not on the last tender to the ship. See you in July!!! dzcruisers Posted May 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2007 Does anyone know why Carnival doesn't change time as it sails? The other cruise lines we have sailed change to the time at the current locale. The other ships leave a notice in the room and also publish time change in the ship's daily paper. ATLCruiseJunkie Posted May 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2007 From the CCL cruises I've been on in the past that stop in other time zones, the ship does not change time. They will make it very clear in announcements to stay on ship's time when you are in port. I would imagine that changing the ship's time to match the port's would reek havoc on schedules for dinner, shows, employee schedules, etc.
dzcruisers Posted May 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2007 Never bothered Celebrity, Princess, RCCL or Regent. They all changed to local time.
serene56 Posted May 3, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 3, 2007 I have yet to sail with Carnival that changes a time to reflect-- But also have not sailed where there was a 2 hour time difference either. The only ship that changed time for us was the Princess. (it depends on the captain on what he wants to do) My take is that a lot of people probably dont pay attention to the time change and will be back 2 hors earlier--- and complain that we waited all that time for late comers
CruisingAgain Posted May 20, 2007 #10 Share Posted May 20, 2007 And I have been on several Carnival cruises where they DID change the time. Guess it depends on the ship and the itinerary.
