How do they assign dining rooms?

Recommended Posts

I was also told by one maitre d' that if your cabin is aft there is a good chance you will be in the aft dining room, if your cabin is mid ship or forward you will be more likely to be assigned in the midship diningroom

Logically, you should be assigned the forward dining room if you have a forward cabin....aft if you have an aft cabin. However, that isn't always the case. I had cabin E1 - as far forward as you can get, BUT I was assigned the aft dining room. Go figure. Oh well, all that walking sure helped keep the weight off.:D

You will be able to change your assigned dining time if you want. There is a block of time upon boarding tht you can go speak to the Maitre D about changing your dining time as well as table size. If you would prefer a certain dining room, just change your dining time. We requested a table for two on our last cruise, and later time, it was very easily done. They were so nice. Just get there early before too many people are there. It will give a time in your caper paper that you receive when boarding-(schedule) Our time to see the Maitre D was 1:30pm in the dining room listed on the caper.

Would be nice if that always happened but more often than not we have been told the dining rooms are full and no switches allowed (mind you, we normally travel on school holiday times and that might have something to do with it. On 4 cruises so far we have only been able to change once

That is not a sure thing. The Maitre d' will TRY to arrange a different dining assignment if you ask. All dining times and changes are by request only...except for Platinum guests.
