Missybud Posted August 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2004 These are located at The Empress Beach Hotel and advertise the largest outdoor bar deck over the water in Isla Verde. If anyone has been, would appreciate info on scenery, type of cuisine, prices, ok for a Saturday night happy Hour? Missy
FRANKM Posted August 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2004 I went to Sonnys last year for lunch. Excellent place. Right on the water overlooking the beach line and the El San Juan Hotel. Prices were very reasonable. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu is varied, serving Pasta, Seafood, Chicken, Sandwiches, Ribs (very good), Burgers, Salads. Saturday nites should really be a busy time. They have live latin music and dancing on weekends. I will go again next week for sure when Iam in PR prior to AOS cruise. Missybud Posted August 10, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2004 FrankM, Thanks for your quick reply! We don't hear anything about this place and I really felt it was a secret gem. Missy
Missybud Posted August 30, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted August 30, 2004 FRANKM, Sorry your cruise is over. You need to book another to avoid PCD! Were you able to dine at Sonny's again? I wrote to them regarding accomodating reservations for 19 but have not received a reply. Your recent impressions appreciated. Missy
FRANKM Posted August 31, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Hi Missy Just saw your post. Yes, PCD has set in quite severely. Our cruise on AOS was terrific. Couldnt ask for more. Unfortunately, try as I did, I couldnt get to Sonny's. Spent alot of time outside of San Juan. I did get to the ESJ one nite and saw the Blue Dolphin all lit up down the beach so its' still around. They should not have a problem accomodating 19 people. Most of the tables are for 4 so they will just join them. They are set up to handle parties and banquets. There are really two places here. Sonny's and the Blue Dolphin joined together. Suggest you call them with any questions. The number is 787-791-3083. Frank
